I live near Spokane Washington and want to go to Canada for an nice riding adventure. I know everyone seems to go to Revy and I haven't been there but, I tend to like places a little more off the beaten path.

I have spoken to some of the lodges from southern BC at the Spokane snowshow and read a bit about some other places but, I'm still not quite sure which place would be best to go for good snow, great open country riding and no or very small crowds. I prefer a rustic lodge type setting to a motel 6.

What do you guys recommend?

If you want very few people out on the mountain with you I would recommend Northern B.C.

Mackenzie B.C. (Powder King), * North of Prince George
Stewart B.C. *250 KM's North on Hwy 37 N, you may be familiar with Hyder Alaska.
Smithers B.C.
Terrace B.C.

Just to give a few.... lot's of riding very few people.

But in terms of Southern B.C. riding I am not very familiar. I did have a friend who lived in Sicamous and said that it was just as good, or better then Revy with less people. They are only 45 mins - 1 hour apart.

Thanks Napalm!

I'll count that as a vote for Sicamous.

I need to find the magazine I was looking at on the topic and list some of the other areas I was considering.

Surely, someone must have some more information?

From spokane.......Valhalla Inn, New Denver. Windsor Hotel, Trout Lake.
And of course Eagle Valley in Sicamous.......Rene will show you a great time.

WOW, now those are some nice shots! Thank you Rene!

Ok, I'll add your lodge to my list of potential places to go.

Climbmax, yup those are places I was thining of going. What's the skinny on the places you mentioned. Maybe a PM would more appropriate if any of it isn't pretty?

There is some great sledding just north of the border as well, you dont have to go as far north. Check out Nelson, or Kaslo (they just redid the hotel and its beautiful), New Denver, Or North of Kaslo to Trout Lake. If you looking for a rustic stay, the Windsor InN In trout lake is about as classic as you will find. This is my first year on a sled so i dont know too many exact locations but i know with the right knowlege from the right person you will be satisfied. If you end up around the Kaslo area i can help you out with a little more exact details. Have a great trip

Thank SMP747, I love Ainsworth and Kaslo is just up the road. In fact, I rode up the road across from Woodbury resort up to the Kokanee glacier many years ago.

How far is the riding from Kaslo?

About 10 minutes from Kaslo toward New Denver you can access the Empire area....which is rediculous. Don't remember any of the road names tho, sorry. Between Nelson and Kaslo, there are many logging roads that shoot up to excellent areas as well....we ride up there all the time and never get bored. Trout lake also kicks heavy ***.

Halcyon hotsprings is a really nice place to stay as well....just past Nakusp. Can be pricey but you get your own cool little cabin (or big pimped out cabin). Pretty sure they do sled tours from there. There's a lot of stuff in the Nelson/Castlegar/Kaslo/slocan valley area....and it's all relatively close.
