Going down there this Wed/Thur

1. Any advice on places to stay in South fork? Not necessiarily looking for the cheapest place.

2. The wife gets board easily with the trails and likes some open areas to carve/play in. They guys enjoy the hill climbing. We ride the Flattops and Grand Mesa quite a bit. Not sure if the Wolf Creek area has a lot of that type of riding, but any suggestions on the best trail heads to get to riding areas such as these ?

Thanks in advance......

Honestly it probably isn't worth heading down. Sunny and heat all week and a chance of Rain on Friday. We were going to head down this weekend but decided against it. If you go....Good luck and let us know how it is.

I would suggest staying at the Ute Bluff. They support our local club and are very snowmobile friendly. It's located just east of town. You can ride from your room(Willow Park). I'm not sure how much snow is left down low from there. If you're unfamiliar with the area, I would suggest unloading at the Beaver Creek resivior. The turnoff to Beaver Creek is just outside of town as you head up Wolf Creek pass. There are groomed trails that lead up to some big bowls and there is a ton of good boondocking most of the way up. Stop at the Arctic Cat shop in town (Twin Pine Motorsports) and pick up one of our clubs maps so you have an idea of the area. Please be very careful of avalanche conditons. There is still good snow, but the warm temperatures in the afternoons are really raising slide probability. Blimpies gas station has ethanol free 91 octane if you need it. Most of all, have fun! If you're curious about a good place to eat, hang out, and have a drink after your ride, The Shaft is another snowmobile friendly environment.
