south dakota

The eastern part of the state is farm country. A few lakes and ditch riding. The far west has the Black Hills. This is the preferred area to ride. 300-plus miles of groomed trails and very scenic riding. It's at 4000 to 6000 ft.altitude, so the snow is better too. Snow is getting better, but it's very cold here right now.

Is there a lot of open land I am not much of a trail rider.

There is a good trail system up by madison. It's mostly flat and Lake riding. You will have to go to the black hills to get any sort of climbing. Even then it isn't much but nice views and something different. Let me know if you have any other questions. I live in se SD.
