Well fess up lazy bastards! Oh yes, I am one of those lazy bastards that does nothing with the battery. Aleast I never have since I bought my sled new. I have just started it every month and let it run a while. BUT, just today, I pushed the rer button to prime my 600sdi before I pulled the rope and the sucker just kept beeping and the battery light was flashing on the dash. OH sheet!!!! I said to myself. But I pulled the rope and it started. We leave for the snowies in five weeks and I don't want to be fightin a dead battery problem because I was stupid. What does everyone else do to maintain their batteries?? Alot of sleds out there have them on these days, so some one share your secret to keeping a battery alive for years of fun. BTW, I am a cheap azz and don't want to buy a battery every couple of years so please give me some advice on PROPER maintenace.

At work we pull the batteries in the winter(trucks,equipment, 6 wheelers) hasnt made much of a difference on the 6 wheelers(same battery as most sleds)we still loose them on an average of every 2-3 years(this is storing them in a warm shop with bi-weekly trickle charges), a quality battery to begin with makes a big difference(they were buying exide batteries- 1-2 years tops, we now use interstate batteries and get 2-3 out of wheeler batteries)

Battery tenders are great!

Plug them in and forget them, they let the battery cycle up and down and shut off when not needed. Sell hundreds of them to watercraft people. $40.00 ish and will work on anything 12 volts.

Battery Tendor to maintain. If that battery gets low enough your SDI will not start even by pull starting. Buy a new one!

Put the batt. from the wifes 600 sdi in the grandsons polaris 90 4-wheeler. Switch again in the late fall. Works well.

X2!

I have 2 sleds, 3 motorcycles, 1 lawn tractor, and my enclosed trailer deep cell battery all on a Battery Tenders(Junior model) anytime the vehicle(s) are not being used. With that said, I have not had a battery on any of those machines fail....(knock on wood!)

The batteries are anywhere from 75.00 to 100.00 dollars for a good one.

I do charge mine during the summer as stated above with a battery tender. It seems to me they are not that expensive and almost every motorcycle shop should have them on the shelf.

battery?????

easiest way i know is throw the dead weight in the recycle bin and the pull the frickn' rope. but i guess it's pretty helpfull on the womens sleds:beer;
