Son #1 (Josh) is going to be going to college at Carroll in Helena, MT. I was wondering if there were any Snowest folks in Helena? I will be helping him try to nail down some things like doctor, dentist, chiro, auto repair, things like that which he will need.

Any riding around Helena? Not that he would have time this season, but I sure will. Any good storage places where a guy could keep a sled and gear? We'll make a trip out sometime before he has to arrive on Aug. 21 and would love to meet any SW'rs and explore the dinner possibilities in Helena. That school costs a butt load so might need a coupon. Thanks in advance. EW

LOL! If he is goin to Carrol, there are plenty of hotties for him to be taken care of by. He wont need ya pops! Just send him over to the brewhouse on college night, and he will have all he needs.

Lots of us THunderstruck guys live nearby, not a lot of ridin though.

Am sure there are (just dont ride there myself) some close by but here are some killer data points...

Bozeman is close 2 hours to incredible riding
West Yellowstone/Island Park/Mt Jefferson is 3 hours...
Cooke City is 4 hours+/-
Lincoln is 1.5 Hours

SnowSnob is new to Helena, and would I am sure be glad to intro and meet, but he will not have a problem finding folk to hang with...Carroll is a VERY tight knit community school...

Head to Helena the weekend of Aug 9th and stop by the Thunderstruck 7 premier. Should be a good time and a way to meet a bunch of locals.:beer;

I almost played basketball at Carroll back in the day... Its a great school from what i could recall of my campus visits... good luck!

Lots of dirt-heads, rednecks and politicians in that town. Helena's great!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the responses. Looks like we'll have to try to make the premier on 8/9. Sounds like I might want to look into furthering my education as well. especially on college night. Looking forward to meeting the locals and looking the place over, maybe we can talk HairyMark into a road trip.

Highmark, How's mom & dad? You folks may want to wander North for some BBQ on the deck this summer. You remember where? Summer has hit for sure on the lake. Let me know.

Thanks again, any info helps. EW

Carroll

EW, congrat's to you and you're boy!!
Carroll's a tough but fair school, a very good education to be had if one applies themselves. I was there in the early 90's, learned alot about life. Best part is the size, you don't get lost in the masses. Just tell your boy to be nice to all those good catholic girls, (I know I was!!), and if he needs advice how to escape the girls dorm after curfew (ie) in the early am, give me a call!! Maybe I can come help!!
Good Luck & Congratulations
-T:)

Geez, if the girls are that good maybe he shouldn't try to escape. I'm really excited about him going there. It was/is a tough decision as he had some great options. Washington State offered him a full ride to be part of the football managers program and he was really liking the idea of being a part of that. He also really liked Boise State and Linfield in McMinnville, Oregon. Seattle Pacific and Pacific Lutheran were also great choices, but the city life just didn't click for him.

He just got notice tonight that Carroll offered him and additional $8500 and he had already committed. From everyone we have met and talked to and the visit he and mom made, it sounds like Carroll will be the right fit. So he'll pull a few more boards at the local plywood mill then off to be a psychologist dude in the sports world. I am very proud.

I am also very proud of son #2 Kameron. He just graduated and is fighting fire for the State DNR before heading to Washington State this fall. He has a buddy that hooked him up with a deal where he will do building and lawn maint. at the all girl dorms in trade for food/lodging. Man to be young again. He is just getting on his first fires and loving it.

As for me, all I have ever been good at is being a dad. I am facing crisis and abandonment. I could have a Harley and a Black Widow tatoo on my belly by fall. I feel a big midlife crisis coming on. Kelly just got her dream job teaching at Colville High School so it will just be me and my receding hair line. I am trying to be proactive though, I just booked a 4 day ride with Chris Burandt. Extreme situations call for extreme measures. LOL.

Thanks again. EW

What's Kelly going to be teaching? Sounds like the boys are doing great!! Lincoln and the Copper Creek bowls are just down the road from Helena. I kinda hear ya' on no kids around. Patrick is over at my sis's house for a couple of weeks and Allison is heading over on Sat. for a couple of days. Until then, I"m just enjoying the silence. (well, except for the farts)
