My roommate at college bought this supplement for bulking up, and it has something like 2,000 calories in each serving of it. Its just a powder, so it really doesn't take up that much room, and it mixes with 16oz of water. So, my line of thought goes to the fact it is packed with calories and protein, yet it does not take much room and could easily go into a backpack for survival purposes in case of staying a night or two.

Anyone else ever thought of this?

Probably a good item. I'm just putting mine together today for the weekend. I may add that.

I used to take some in high school when i lifted everyday, dont think it had that many calories but it was for adding muscle. It never made me that full, but is full of vitamins and stuff like that with some protein. I would guess it would work ok. There are meal replacers out there that i dont think are too bad either.
