Some two up questions

My wife and daughter haven’t liked mountain riding as much but like to go mellow on the trails and like to camp out a few times a season. I was thinking of picking up a used skandic or expedition or I suppose another brand version but all I find have many miles on them 3000-5000. I just don’t know this stuff well enough to know what to look at or for. So with the fan cooled engines like a 550 fan , what’s high mileage? I see 600 ace and 900 ace expeditions too. What’s high for them? I just need it to go three or 4 times a year and maybe pull a sled for gear. Nothing hardcore but comfy and two up so I can take my wife and kid and they aren’t fomo all winter. Iam in Montana so if your close and are selling Iam interested also . Thanks Charlie

All the ones you're finding are likely previous rentals, so take that into consideration. If you're looking for longevity and reliability, go with a 4-stroke ACE. They'll go for 10's of thousands of miles.

They aren’t to bad new but still a bit more than I want to spend. I did find a couple options at the famous Rexburg motors. Maybe that’s a good place to ask? Most of the used I do think are rentals . Most from island park. I am surprised there aren’t many for sale here. They must be a order kinda deal from the dealership? My only dealer relationship is with cat and Id rather do skidoo lol! Well if one will go thousands of miles I suppose they are worth looking at. Give an excuse to go ride island park! Thanks

Do take the sled weight into consideration.
Our club had a Skandic for trail work/SAR and it was one heavy bathtub. We upgraded to a 900 ACE Expedition. Lots of power, rode smooth but I'm glad we opted for the winch with it. Used it the only time I rode it when the sled tipped on its side.

Yeah makes me nervous for sure being so heavy getting stuck would be kinda bad. I am pretty new to snowmobiling and I’ve had a bit of a hard time with overheating sleds on trails so I just assumed that a two up sled would be the only option. Maybe I could get a crossover and out a two up seat on it? I don’t know what’s best? But my kids to big for me to reach around and she and my wife kinda don’t like the mountain sleds I have . Kinda think there’s really no good option unless your just on groomed trails which are not the norm here really.

South East Idaho just doesn't have a large trail riding segment.
Most everyone that lives here is a mountain rider.
So the 4 strokes are few and far between.
EXCEPT for all the sleds that are rolled over every year from the rental fleets going into Yellowstone.

If you end up with a heavy 4 stroke, just spend the coin and get yourself a SNOWJACK or a HIGHLIFTER.
I rode Yamahas for many years, and they were big fat fun PIGS.
The SnowJack saved my butt each and every time I got badly stuck.
