Some mountain goat pics from Harney Peak in the Black Hills

I hiked Harney Peak today with my girlfriend and her cousin. About 5 minutes after we got to the top, 2 mountain goats came wandering up and hung out for a while. They weren't bothered by people at all, and actually walked up to within about 10 feet of me while I was sitting on a rock watching the storm roll through Rapid City. I could just about pet the little guy, he seemed pretty curious about me sitting there watching them.

We saw this momma and little one just off of the road about 1/2 mile past Mt. Rushmore.

Here's the two that were up on the peak.

It used to be a fire lookout tower for forest fires in the Black Hills.

cuz MN sucks! Jk Nice pics, i dont really ever get out to the hills until winter, i might have to come 4 wheelin up there and check out some of the terrain. Im suprised the mountain goats were that tame, and ya im pretty sure that mt. goat is collared in the pic.

Yeah, it looked like it had a radio collar on it, plus an ear tag.

A long drop...

This little hole had a few inches of water in it when we walked past on the way up, and on the way back it was dry and there was some nice fresh kitty prints in the mud. It looked like a little one from the prints, but that means momma mountain lion wasn't too far off either...
