Some advice greatly apprecieated

I am 6ft.2in. and weigh 240 and i have a 05 900 I so far LOVE my machine.
I noticed that the running boards are way to narrow for my feet.I have been throwing around the idea of making them wider I have a couple ideas. My questions is has anybody done this or know of old post with some good pics do use.
