I've had my YFZ450 out like every day for the last week ...

I'm getting better and better on it the more I ride it.

Anyone else riding their summer toys around yet?

Lets see rode the wheelers at the dunes at the end of april and the last 2 weeks been riding sleds. Still too much snow to miss out on the spring rides.

got a few rides on the new wr 450, and about 6 rides on the brute 750, 3 floats in new achilles raft, and still plenty of snow to sled. Its like living a dream.

except when i have to work

Ha. If I had bigger tires on the wheeler I would attempt the mud bogs around my house. This pic was this morning. Still have 6' banks on the north sides of my property, south sides---- MUD HOLES FROM HE!!.

What year CRF is that? The reason I ask is, my dad bought a 2007 CRF-450X and the forks on it came from the factory so f*cked up we've had to literally dump about another grand in the bike just to get the thing rideable....

That thing was so bad when we bought it we took it for one ride at the lake and were seriously thinking about trying to sell it back to the dealer it was such a POS ...

We've since put a Kouba Link on it, steering stabilizer, lowered the tripple clamps, added fork oil, etc .... basically everything short of sending the forks in for a complete rebuild.

I will never buy a Honda product after seing how f*cked up this thing was, that's for sure.

I don't quite understand the problem you had. The Link and lowering the clamps tells me it was too tall for the rider or rider too short? The Link seriously changes the geometry and the bike really never handles as well as stock in most people's reviews.

Did you set the sag first? And changing oil in the shocks, type, level etc is SOP.

Even changing out the rear spring and/or the fork springs. Every one of these things have to work well together and buying a new modern dirt bike requires some serious set up work. They really aren't out of the box anymore for an experienced rider or a noob.

Suspension-wise these are the highest rated bikes made. The 08 is considered just about flawless.

Hope it works now.

I have about 400 miles in so far on the trusty KTM 300. Dunes and some mountain snow rides make for a fun weekend! St Anthony was a blast right after the rain storms!

Sag was set to 3" if I remember right, we did stiffen the rear spring up.

I don't know, my dad's last bike was a 1974 Husqvarna 400 ....

When we first got it, it had so much head shake you could hardley ride the thing ...

Rode for the first time this year down to little sahara 06 crf450.
Weather was perfect, sand was smooth, pretty soft.
I ran out of gas the 3rd motto, the bike was fine, it was me that pooped out.
Crazy how you use different muscles than the ones used for sledding.
I took 1st place! The fans in the pits went nuts, A bearded chick with a hustler shirt on jumped from behind a ceder tree and almost tackled me.

Had the four fiddy X out about 5 times so far, all rides have been all day adventures, here's a pic from last year. Great times so far, I just bought the bike last year and it's my first, so this year I'm really starting to get the hang of it! Coming off sledding, dirtbiking is so easy it's kinda refreshing.....fit 3 of them in a shortbox no prob, you can go out by yourself without fear of immenent death, gas is a couple bucks a day, it doesn't blow up randomly, etc

Just got a new rear tire and ordered some new high-rise fat bars and risers, which I'm really excited to try. Stock bars are too low to stand up comfortably at 6'2".

We mostly ride in the bush, skidder roads, MTB trails, etc.

Just a few test spins on the Screaming YZ 125!!!

Hopefully be riding all weekend coming up here!
