So whats the deal with Aerochargers

Looking at turbo kits for next year and I need some feed back on the kits that use Areochargers, mainly the 66 series. So if you have run a 66 series I want to heard your feed back.

I ride tight, steep, technical terrain and the 0 lag of this type of turbo has me interested. Also running quality is pretty important to me, When you hit the throttle it needs to lite up every time cause a bog could mean big $$$ repairs. Looking to run 10 psi.

Thanks

Hmturbo.com shane hart has extensive testing with turbos if i was gonna turbo a pro its the only kit i would use its a clean install

The ebbs, and flows of snowest are really interesting at times. When I began researching turbo's 2-3 years ago, everyone on here (well the vast majority) did everything they could to talk me out of the aero. Now in many ways it is the turbo to have according to a good percentage of people.

I have never been around an aero kit, but if I had a Pro, and a bunch of cash laying around, I would be all over the HM kit.

^^^ I agree, I think the Aerochargers got a bad name right out of the gate B/C of improperly matched applications which lead to failure (mainly trying to run too much boost out of a 53 and over speeding the turbo).

This what I really need to know have they work the reliability issues out and is this a consistent turbo for low to moderate boost levels.

Come to turbo days in lolo mt april14 and u can ride a 600 and 800 turbo as well as the 2013 pros but what do i know i ride a ovs m8 cat tial kit

I've got a 66offer on my dragon. Have over 1500s miles on it now. The gf has one on her pro too. Great Turbo, probably the only Turbo id run just for how easy it is to work around and a clean fit n finish.

I'm 'the gf'... ;) Haven't been around the turbo scene as much as a lot of the guys out there but had this aerocharger (kit through HM turbos) and have had NO problems with the turbo!! Snappy response once you get the fueling right too!!

I have an Hm kit with a 66 and I ride the same terrain you are talking about, I will never own another kit besides Hm, including aero chargers own kit(quality is more important to me than price), and I have owned a few different brands. My sled will be at turbo days, I run 10lbs all day long with no problems, anyone is welcome to take it for a spin.

Have you ever ran or seen a actual "Areocharger" kit??? The only reason I ask is because there is a dealer for these kits close to were we usually ride. Im not even sure if HM even has a Canadian dealer network, the only link on their site does not work. They sure do look like a nice setup though.

yes, I will send you a pm

Hey, thanks for the replies, keep them coming good or bad.

To be honest I was expecting a lot of negative comments, the Aero must have recovered some what form their bad rap or maybe that was just a Cat thing.

Canadian HM dealer

hm makes very complete kits that everyone loves.

I wanted to go 66aero when i build my xp, i was talked out of it. But i also dont know anyone who has a 66 who doesn't love it!

You would be jumping for joy with a garret or aero kit.

Aero kit

Really, no one has run a kit with a Aero 66 on it.
I have ran the Aerocharger kits alot this year, even with it being a bad year for snow we have been very busy with demo rides, as far as which kit I would buy. There is no doubt in my mind I would buy the kit from the company that owns and builds the turbos. Here is a video from early in the year. turn your speakers up and you will hear the throttle respone.

Man that is quite the knock against companies that use your turbo for their kits. Doesn't show much loyalty to those that use your turbo, instead of making money on the turbo end, you guys want to knock them out and do it all yourself. And its the companies like HM and Turbo Performance that helped build a good reputation for Aerocharger when it was sort of revamped from back in the 90's.

x2, I was kinda thinking the same thing when I read that post.

here is a couple videos of your turbos in action, good running one, at any throttle with our ECU. I find pathetic your comments on here againts your vendors. just my .02

not cutting dealers

The post was not a cut or a hit towards any dealers that use, purchase, or resell Aerocharger turbos, The original post asked. Does anyone out there have any feed back on the Kits meaning plurral kits using the Aerocharger Turbo. I never talked down, slandered, or talked poorly about Shane at HM or Turpo performance, or their kits. Everyone that uses Aerocharger does help the company and, Those companies do know what it takes to make a quality product.

Ive got almost 2000 miles on a 66 on my dragon now. HM's kit. Shanes probably got more time running Aerochargers on sleds than ANY other company out there. Pretty sure he has been using them since he was on a Edge racing RMSHA. HM and Turbo Doc have been hitting it hard since the 08 dragon.

Makes ya wonder why Aerocharger started making there own turbo kits in 2011.:face-icon-small-win
Maybe Garret is missing out too! :face-icon-small-ton

Really though the 66 is a tough turbo. Ive lost a piston skirt running 8200 rpm taking out the engine and the turbo walked away fine. I will put one on any sled i turbo in the future.
