so what bigbores are we running this year!! ARE GO TURBO??

its that time when i open the shed that the wife dispies me in...(MONEY PITT)

what to do this year, lol

still waiting on some fresh pistons for last years 880bb, hope to figure the nitrous issues out, and have a year like last year with it as my spare sled...motor turned over a 1000 miles with no problems then seized pto side, but blame it on mohawk ethanal fuel, NEVER LET STRANGERS FILL YOUR SLED

got the call this week from the dealer that the 09 163 is in !!!

we all know that we cannot drive them stock, so what do we do, i thought about doing BJ 860 kit, another 880 kit, or go with a Boostwurx TURBO REV/XP KIT

with the BB kits i should get the sled under 500lbs again ready to ride making around the 170 hp mark for 2000 dollars

OR go with the untested unproven very exspensive turbo kit, but if some how the motor, clutch could handdle the 220hp... i know it would be a blast and only 10lbs over stock weight

i ran a turbo on my 670 rotary valve engine 10 years ago and when it ran it was a hoot, but reliabilty was a big issue

i seen a few great running turbo xps last year but did not know how they ran all year and still remember my issues i had 10 years ago

anyone have any info on how the turbos ran last year, or they just a money pitt for the 800cc two stroke

thanks for the replys

That's the thing that bugged me all summer long. I wanted a turbo for my '08 but couldn't find anyone on here that ran one. The TurboPerformance boys were nice enough, and told me how good they ran, but 7g's is a ton of cash. So....I got a Big John 860. Should be back next Wed/Thurs. I can't wait to she how she runs. Hopefully it cures some of my need for more HP!!!

Sorry, but nothing will cure the need for more HP. I'll just be satisfied with a mod lightweight XP with a RKT 860.

Same boat here too. I really think the turbo would be a blast, but i need to ride one first to see if it will work for my and my style of riding before i shell out thge $6g's.
Big bore was good, but it really wasn't a ton stronger than my ported 800.
Even at only 10lbs boost the turbo is more power and will be alot more at elevation.
Never Enough !!LOL

A friend of mine spoke with the fellows from Specialty at the snow show and they said they put 1000 miles on thier 800r turbo last year with no problems other than a week of tuning initially - of course they do sell the product so they maybe a bit biased. I'm going with a SS 860 just for the start and go convenience and full time torque - Ralphy talked me out of the 880 saying the piston of the 860 would be more reliable over time.

If you have the money and Dont mind running race fuel full time go with a turbo. Cpi is building a kit for the xp also and is less money than the other kits. Turbo kits have come along way since 96. If I had an Xp it would have a turbo boyz kit.

xp turbo

I just got a boostwurxs kit havent ran it yet but a friend has the same kit and has 7-800km on it with out a hitch awsome power thankyou for your time

heard some noise about a pump gas set up from some one on the other forum but it sounded like 180ish for hp,which wouldnt be all bad ,i know rk tek is claiming close to that but i am thinking that might be a little optimistic.i am still waiting for my 09 and debating on the turbo vs bb as well.the idea of chasing race fuel up here is hardly practical.so a pump gas set up close to 190 would be the biz. seems that some of the bbs had some tuning and reliability issues that were not heard of until you talked with the actual owner .my experiance with bbs has been the closer you get to the max hp potential of the kit the more likely the the problems show up.so the new sled might just get a higher comp head and some bolt ons for now and see what developes.both al and kelsey are waiitng on results from different pipe manufactures ,which is where it is supposedto be at on these R motors..

Fred, just buy the Turbo...That way you can be the GP for the rest of us. I am really interested myself, but like you i have to see one last the year before I make that purchase...So you buy one & Daryl & me will ride with ya to compare...I am still working on that 960 BB...Remember "good fuel" saves pistons.;)

Why not give Trygstad a try? Or Straightline makes a 950.
I guess if I were to turbo a 2-stroke it would have to have EFI just to make my life a little easier. I'm sure the carbed turbos work fine but EFI sounds like less of a headache.

Need help with jets

Anybody out there running a RK Tek 827 BB in a 2006 summit X, my sled stock has 440 mains, Dyno Tech show the kit on a 2004 mxz motor and they making pulls with 340 jets ??

you and malard, and baker have a bigger toy fund than my self... lol

i need to talk with you on your nitrous set up, for the 880, been having issues last year with mine

any word on snow conditions yet

I rode a couple 880 with Nitrous last year & worked well. put it on mine in the spring & only used it a couple of times...kinda forgot about it as it was not needed (spring snow) I will give it a good workout in December. We are planning to go Dec 12-14. You are welcome to join us.
Snow is not very good yet, it will have to improve lots before I go.

Had a good look at Bakers 1200 Turbo project on Friday, As usual Awesome Chassis, Turbo kit looks like it will rock as well. Should have some pic's later today.

I run a 162*2.5 camo extreme now.
Change pilots?

Any other issues like intake?

Thanks in advance.

Throw a little more weight @ your primary. Raise the needles 10-20 thou. Check your plugs often, until you get a baseline. Adjust from there.
