So now they're going after North Routte too?

Sad to say probably won't be anything left. I don't see any fighting going on anymore about the recently closed areas because the FS just will not budge. They say they just do not have the money.

Makes you want to go ride there and deliberately get and get ticketed so they ah ... "have the money" to go open it back up, right?

terrorist groups

why is it that they have to patrol in order for us to ride there. is there some terrorist cell group in the back country that i need to know about and be protected from? <wilderness watch?> why cant i just throw a yellow safety vest on, slap a patrol sticker on the back and cruse around. its already approved for all the construction sign holders standing in the middle of the street with cars going by at 30 mph. also ill do that for free, no money needed forest service. sg

HA!!!!

Exactly. It costs less to just let us ride than to patrol trying to keeping us from riding.

Unfortunately, republicans aren't likely to fight it much as they'll say they need more money, which is a crock of crap, and they're not going to be willing to give it to them.

The whole thing is just bullSH**.

Too Bad

Yep, that sucks. I'm already in the foulest mood possible with no snow but that just amplified it. Thank god modern mountain sleds that we ride can go places the FS can't on their 2002 Yamaha's because I'm going to!

Yea last year the FS at buffalo pass were on 3 brand new 163 pro's...
Ad to really kick ya in the balls they were bought with green sticker funded money!

I don't care how good your sled is....

I know of some folks the FS couldn't follow and they actually wasted our tax/fee dollars to fire up the birds and go take pics of people riding. The FS still couldn't prove a thing. Those woods don't belong to anybody more than the next, go shred!

Although I have to agree the selective nature of the FS budget issues is REALLY frustrating I am not really sure how the reroute of a summer trail is a winter use issue- they are not changing winter usage boundaries- you can still ride through here and I don't think I use the summer route in the area to ride

The local motorcycle club is already very involved with the issue- loss of that route would be a big issue for them and other summer users as the trail is the only link through the area. The Timberline motorcycle club has a good histroy of resolving issues similar to this

I have attached the COHVCO comments that were submitted and a copy of the USGS water study that summarizes the water quality as VERY good in the area

Dillon Ranger dis now has two new rmk long tracks. Everyone needs to join a club/cas. They will let areas stay open if a club works with them to maintain the area. just my 2c.

I hate to say it but it's true. Before I was active with a club I found that my opinion was pushed aside like most. The club is a tool that becomes useful in working with the USFS and wilderness entities like the Wilderness Workshop. As an organized group, you carry more weight on these issues. Our club has been ramping up (gaining knowledge) for the Udall Wilderness plan - which by the way is a total joke and hypocrisy by definition.

If you want to make a difference with the USFS you have to flood them with contact (email, letters or in person) during the public comment period. After that they have done the process and are done hearing the public. Get some groups to contact them in that area.

A lot of people won't buy into the club scene. It's fine if you don't want to do club rides and charitable events or deal with CSA. But join and get active in the land management scene. It's becoming a monster and the green groups are simply trying to buy us into submission by outlasting us. The green groups fuel the USFS work by continually pushing the USFS to save "something".

This is exactly why I joined the Powder Hounds after moving here this year. Numbers. Probably won't make it to any club functions, but I want my name there because its more support for the cause.

I read a while back that most elected officials ignore an issue even if a phone call or letter is received UNLESS they get over 15 calls, emails or letters about it in a day.

From an organizational standpoint we would all be ahead to send letters, call etc on a single day.

After joining a local club of course.

Seems to me like their campaign donors pretty well dictate which letters they read or phone calls they pay attention to :face-icon-small-dis
