So how do the Axys Switchback Assault sleds work for spring snow sleds in the rockies

Guess a thread to ask questions is a bit late since I just sno-checked one, but I thought I'd get people's thoughts .... I wanted to get something that was more hardpack/trail oriented than the Pro RMK 163 LE I have is, so after looking it over it came down to either the 800 SKS or the Switchback Assault 800 ..... Wound up going with the Switchback Assault. Will mainly be using it on the days we plan on longer more cross country style rides or days where the fresh snow is but a fantasy ...

I figured it'd round out the stable rather well :)

I've got 900 miles on my 163 this year but it really hasn't seen too many deep snow days this year unfortinatley (just haven't been able to hit it at the right times) .....

Anyways, what do yall recommend for setting them up for more mountain/back country riding even though they have the 42.5" front end? I went ahead and got it with the Series IV 2.0" powder track, which I think is the same one they've been using since the IQ was released ....I've had several sleds with that track, seems to work just fine on all but the deep days :)

The stock skis are good trail skis but are no good otherwise so I would suggest a set of Grippers. I would also add the 3" SKS/RMK snowflap if you are gonna be running spring snow, the stock flap is to short to short to aid in cooling effectively. This version of the Assault feels a bit more planted in the front end than my 2014 but it does ok, less ski pressure seems to help it maneuver better off trail, disconnecting the sway bar also helps in some instances.

The Switchback Assault is a great "cross country" type sled.
