Snowy range snowmobile club

Yes we are with the WASA, and Maverick is the only dealer in town that has done anything to help with the club. They have supplied us with a place for meetings and have paid for several advertisements for us and expect nothing in return, so thank you for your input.

ok, heres a dumb question.
What are the goals of the club and what are their plans?
I understand the state does all the grooming with the dollars from registrations and such.
Do you have a legal fund for defending rights to ride? are you planning on trying to get areas re-opened?
What are the intentions of the club??

Not trying to be an azz or anything.
I just like to know what I would be joining. It is too far for an evening meeting so in my case it would be "Heres my money" kind of thing.
I ride pretty much exclusivels the snowies and am interested, just want to know where the money will be going and to what purpose.

Ollie thanks for the questions.

Here are some things as a club that we would like to address.

1. Raise money for the local search and rescue
2. Work on better grooming of the trails and try to open up more areas in the Snowy Range.
3. Try to keep the ORV money in this district to help improve trails and maintain warming huts.

These are the main things that we would like to try to work on starting out in the order of improtance. If you know anyone questions please e-mail me. jseverson@gmail.com

What is a WASA??? Isnt ORV for four wheelers?? Arent you an owner of Maverick- seems odd maybe a business thing
I would join if you guys were statewide because I ride the Bighorns and Togwotee- it seems you should support the sport and not the area

I think they mean the WSSA, the Wyoming State Snowmobiling Association. When you join a local club you automatically become a member of the WSSA. How it is supposed to work is that you have local clubs that focus 100% on their local areas, & you have the statewide WSSA that ties all of the local clubs together politically to fight the USFS & the enviros.

I would imagine that associating the club with only one particular dealer will ultimately result in a reduced membership. At least the meetings could be on neutral turf, sledders are a cliquey bunch.

That being said it is awesome that people are putting out the effort to get a club going for the Snowies, it will benefit everybody.

I am with Ollie 100%......I would like to see where the money is going for sure. I would really like to see it fight for our snowmobiling rights and better groomed trails. Search and Rescue is good to.

I think it is a great idea.
Growing up my family was involved with the Riverton Snow Goers. It is a great way to meet other riders in the area. We spent may weekends riding new and different areas of the state as a club, helping trail crews clean and maintain trails, and in Riverton there was the Wild West Winter Carnival. In its Glory days involved Racing on Boysen Reservoir. The Club always had a hand in helping and promoting the sport.

It is not just about the money, but rather the activity (Riding).

I don't know the circumstances right now but I too would like to see all the dealers in town given the opportunity to be involved, and a more nuetral location!

The WSSA has a great site it additional information on Clubs around the state! http://www.snowmobilewyoming.org/clubs.htm

It is nice to see a club starting up again. About 20 years ago a club was started in Cheyenne. It only lasted about 2 years.

I did pick up a flyer for this club at TNT in Laramie, so Mavericks are not the only dealer in the know about this. I'm sure all of the dealers in the area will find out about this and want to support it as well.

So far 2 of the 3 local Laramie sled dealers have joined the SRSC: Mavericks, and Frontier Cycle. TNT Motosports has not. As far as neutral turf is concerned: Mavericks was kinda enough to donate a meeting place free of charge. All things considered, this club is only in it's 2nd season and we are really trying generate a membership base and determine our mission and goals. Something that is very difficult to do when we only have only 12 paid memberships and an average meeting attendance of 4 -5 people. Our membership drive has been fairly successful this year, but member participation has been problematic. At this juncture we are will to accept free meeting space from any business member who is willing to donate it. If you would like to donate some of your time and effort please join, otherwise don't b*tch about it!!!!! But that's my .02

That being said!
When is the next meeting? As noted above New Years is the first Thursday, and the following is the Avy Class.

Dealers

Catman 1200

We have went to all the area dealers and asked them to join just haven't heard anything back from them. We have a couple of members that work at Froniter Cycles so I believe they know all about us.

The next meeting for the club will be January 8th at 7:00 pm in the building east of Maverick Motorsports in Laramie.

Let me clear some things up I am Jason Severson the General Manger of the Cheyenne Maverick Motorsports not the owner I am trying to get this club started because this area needs a voice on a lot of stuff that goes on with the trails and the parking just to name a few.

I hope we can get things rolling and elect some officers and make a presents in the WSSA this year. If you have any questions please e-mail me jseverson@gmail.com or you can call me at 307-638-8307 thats my work number. Hope to see you all at the meeting on the 8th of January.

Thanks
Jason

Not that I have any time for participation (I really don't), it's too bad it'll be on the 8th- going to the class. I'd be happy to be a paying member, though.
