Just thought I would post this as I did not find any info when I did a search.
A buddy and I went out sledding the other day and when we stopped for a bite I happened to glance at my cylinder gauge. To my surprise it was empty. My pal then checked his and it was also empty. We both realize this should have been checked previously but we neglected to. It would have really sucked to have been in a slide and not have the bag deploy. Upon returning home I did a google search and came across the following bulletin on another web site.
IMPORTANT SNOWPULSE SAFETY WARNING!
BY ADMIN, ON DECEMBER 17TH, 2010
At the start of this winter we had several phone calls from different dealers and individuals about cylinders which leaked, either partially or completely, over the summer. The Snowpulse cylinder should never leak so an investigation was started. It has been determined that the cause of this leak is the cylinder gauge. This issue affects ONLY 2009/2010 cylinders and appears to be affecting about 10-20% of the Snowpulse units sold last year.
Snowpulse sources its gauges from an ISO certified European company. The gauges are European made and more than twice as expensive as their Asian counterparts, despite that there is an issue. The issue has been identified as a weld failing within the gauge. We have replacement gauges in stock and this issue has not been identified on any gauges sold this year.
If you have any customers or cylinders in stock which are low on pressure or empty there are two ways that we can handle this.
1. You can ship the cylinder back to us on our purolator account. Please call us to get an RA#. We will replace the gauge and send it back to you at no expense.
2. If you are a refill station we can send you gauges so that you can do the replacement yourself. This is a simple procedure which only requires a 12mm wrench. If this is done please save the gauges and ship them back to us. You will receive a $15 credit on account with us for every gauge returned.
We regret any inconvienence that this may cause and remind you and your customers to always check the pressure on the gauge before heading to the backcountry.
Have a safe and happy holidays.. Upon doing a google search after returning home I found a safety bulletin with regards to this issue. It has to do with the gauge.
Please, make sure you check your cylinders!!!![/SIZE]
