A Revelstoke woman has died in a snowmobiling accident on a trail leading to the popular Boulder Mountain riding area.

The incident happened just after 5 p.m. on Dec. 30.

Police said the accident occurred about four kilometres up the trail leading from the parking lot on Boulder Mountain. The woman was descending the trail after a snowmobile excursion when she lost control on a corner and went over a 10-metre embankment and struck a tree.

Despite CPR efforts by other snowmobilers, the woman died on scene.

Staff Sgt. Jacquie Olsen said RCMP and the B.C. Coroners Service are continuing the investigation, but at this point the incident appears to be an accident.

Revelstoke RCMP are not releasing the name of the 37-year-old victim.

Sad story.... few of my friends were there doing what they could. Prayers out to her family and friends. Sorry for your loss.

:brokenheart:Goodbye Alana, we will miss you and all your great smiles at Zala's.

Very tragic accident. And this was purely accidental. Huge loss of a great person with lots of lots of talent. She was a great photographer who loved to show me her photos and was proud of her work.

Very sad for everyone who knew her. Papa Veedy was on the search and rescue, and was VERY shaken by this.

Condolences to her family, and friends.

I know how hard this can be on the *rescue* side of things. Give your Dad lots of love and support.......whether he talks about it or not, he truly NEEDS it.

I'll be sending positive thoughts your way..... :rose:

RIP we must have missed that accident by approx 1 hr. Any more details on what happened? Lost control?

Sounds like an innocent ride resulting in the worst kind of tragedy. Zala's is a regular place to be at after riding in Revy. Thoughts & Prayers to Alana's family, friends and co-workers.

For those that tried all they could to help her, you all did it right. Sometimes no matter how we intervene there is nothing else that would have made the difference.

that's very sad....she always had a big smile for everyone and treated us very well. Our condolences to the family, friends, and co-workers from the Regina gang who knew her and hang out at Zala's
