snowmobile colors..

So what is with all the lame and retarded snowmobile gear colors, specifically jackets and pants?

The klim gear is good, but blue and red solid primary colors? Oh, and don't forget black...

The motofist gear looked interesting, but what is up with the darth vader look? Functionality looked good with it, but not everyone wants to be a member of the black coat and pants brigade.

I love snowmobile gear because of its strength and choice of strong and tough fabric, but the color choices are very very weak.

Speaking of weak, Klim, with a womans coat that was pink. Fricken great. Wow, one more color instead of black, red, and blue (and a little bit or orange and green too, but limited).

I would really like to see more companies create sled gear with more color, or at least some color besides primary colors and shades of black. Take a look at the other snow sports, color is IN.

Bottom line, I want new gear but they all look like arse, and like everything else.

Oh, one last work, pockets on your pants that aren't cargo's or on the side of the leg are useless to hold anything...

Manufacturers, please make me something good for next year...

Anyone else agree with me?

Ruffy, once again you're right, but I think that the clothing manufactures are just catering to the brand loyal mentality of snowmobilers. Red= Polaris, Blue =Yamaha, Yellow= Doo, Green and orange= Cat, Black goes with everything. Maybe once the sleds change it up the clothing line will follow. I believe that you were sporting blue pants and coat with a blue sled last year just as an example, so maybe a sled wrap to change your sled color then go from there. :face-icon-small-sho

Correct, but I bought them when I had a yellow skidoo, so there... ha ha. It was either blue, or more black... :face-icon-small-dis

Like everything else, I would make the most of what sells. If you want something different don't be surprised if you have to pay more for it.

That is why you wear a black coat with black pants.. Color up the helment and no matter what you ride it looks clean!!!

All I want is something made in the US or Canada by a company that doesn't use it's revenue to support groups that threaten our back country access.

Is that too much to ask?

I could be wrong, but I think FXR is made in canada. not sure how good they are though:D

Sledding is more of an old guy sport compared to snowboarding, thats why our colors are a little more boring. I wouldnt mind seeing a little more color out there just as long as it stays within reason.

Have you seen the motox gear lately? off the wall, those guys looks like ****in clowns out there!

Some of the Scott gear we saw posted last year looked like Skittles on acid....must be directed at the talented younger guys. You better be talented wearing that stuff or you'll look like bozo the clown out there.

Yeah I agree with others in that I think these sled gear companies are just trying to tap into what for example Burton has been doing in the snowboard clothing market. Now most ski and snowboard clothing companies are offering a wide variety of color options with a pretty heavy 80's theme too. Like the above post states, if you are going to wear flashy gear, then you probably should have the skills to match. That is why I wear gray pants and a gray jacket. I feel I am not good enough to rock some of those bright colors even though I am the "targeted market" being 24. I also just don't want the attention because sledding is more about the ride and enjoyment then what sled you ride or what you are wearing. But in the end, if you want to wear bright colors and your happy doing so, then go for it; but it is just not for me.

beings from a snowboard background i still wear snowboard brands sledding. there is way more options and colors to choose from and the gear if bought from the right brand is just as sturdy and waterproof. and alot of times priced lower.
its just 100x the selection to choose from really..
in washington warmth isn't the main factor its gear that is dry and withstands wet conditions keeping u dry. so, some klim gear built for midwest riding isn't really needed in the northwest where Ruffy rides :)
i'd check out some of the snowboard brands, lots fo 20k waterproofing options out there in fashionable flavors.

If you've ever ridden with me, you know I like to dress like a kook, IE bright clothes, and we'll I am a kook with no shame.

I wear bright colored gear for one reason:
It's easier for your friends to spot you across the hill. In the backcountry we need all the advantages we can to pick our friends out from a distance. If I ever get caught in a slide I want people I'm riding with to be able to keep their eye on me.

As far as snowmobile specific brands, I'm not buying it, I too like Lushbomb am from a snowboard background, and I just don't see the advantage over high end snowmobile specific brands. It's the same waterproofing (or worse) and durability (or worse) as last years discounted snowboard gear. I ride 30-50 days a year and saw through my gear no matter what I wear. Could be all the trees I run into. The only exception to that rule is still see is gloves. The thin palms on the KLIM gloves are way better than a snowboard glove for control on the bars. To bad I ruin, on average, two pairs of KLIM gloves a season.

Case and point. This year I picked up a snowboard jacket that's 20k waterproofing for $90. It's bright orange (visability), material feels almost leather like it's so heavy duty, yet it's nice and light, and bulk free. Cool stash pockets too. There's fierce competition in snowboard branded gear, the market is over saturated, and it's very gimmicked out (IE: good pocket placement as ruffy stated). So it's really easy to get an awesome jacket or pants for cheap with some really great features.

Ruffy if you want some internet secrets to finding cheap snowboard gear hit me up..

On the other hand, you might want to wear flashy colors to force yourself to become a better sledder. Look good, ride good!

I agree with you Jorli. Sounds kinda dumb but when I look good I feel good and therefore ride better. But thats just me.

Scott is really bringing the loud color style to the industrie wich I think is great. Definatley looks good on film and pictures.

The Hustler gear by HMK this year is NOT black, not blue, yellow, red either!!

The olive green, denim and plaid are defintely a stand out in this year's gear line up!!! Stylish fit and finish.

I am beyond stoked to be wearing this gear this winter.... :cheer2: HMK USA
