Snowmobile Backpack

Hey guys

I have a HMK backcountry backpack and not sure what to carry in it. I was wondering what you guys like to carry and what not to carry, right now all I have is an extra set of goggles, snobunje and my sled insurance cards. I mostly ride the ditches around home with the occasional trip out west. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Lots of good threads about this. Do a little time searching and you will find some good ideas.

I carry an airbag in mine.

Probe and Shovel. A very basic survival kit (fire starter and space blanket)

Past that 1 pair of big fluffy warm gloves. Everything else I carry on the sled. Ive been trying to reduce the weight of what I carry on my back.

Substitute the Clif Bars for another brand of snack/protein bars as they support the greenies. Nice list otherwise.

Carry survival stuff on your back, tools on the sled.

In my bag i carry:
First aid kit
Water and other beverages
Food, protein bars, beef jerkey, candy bar or 2 ect.
Survival kit (paracord, multi tool, fishing line, ect.)
Fire starter and at least 3 ways to ignite a fire
Pocket saw
Spare warm things (2 balaclavas, few spare pairs of gloves, socks....)
Shovel and avalanche probe
Flashlight

Probably more in there that i have forgotten about here.

I carry my tools on the sled. I just cant see the reasoning for carrying that much more weight on my back, and taking up room for things i would need if i got separated from my sled. Not generally gonna need tools to fix your sled if its off a cliff or burried in an avalanche ect. But you will for sure need the survival stuff.

I also carry enough tools to completely rebuild the whole sled save for spare parts. I could completely dissasemble and reassemble my sled if needed. All of this cause i really hate having unscheduled campouts. And in 5 years since ive started packing all of the above, i havent had one...
