Snowies, Riders beware

The lakes are starting to open up.
There are cracks in the ice I can put my fist thru, and open water is starting to appear.
That being said, there is LOADS of snow still up there. The streams are just starting to open up, the areas around north french creek are still snowed in.
They should start opening up this week. Will make for some fun water skipping if anyone is interested.

Should be at least 3 - 4 more weeks of riding.
Looks like they will have the road open for Memorial day weekend so we will be able to drive over the top to the west side for the really good snow.

And with any luck I will be able to get the ski's to bite enough to actually turn instead of center punching trees. Good thing I didn't have dynamite with me.

The Snowpsychos will be up riding on Friday!! Last friday was a great day but, yes, water is starting to appear in areas.

WOW.
Went up today. Hit fog just past centennial. Serious fog.

Went over to the west side and unloaded right at the point where N goes north from 130.
Fog so thick at times you couldn't see the ski tips. The only reason I could see the wife behind me was her head light.

Ok, so there was thick fog. No biggy. It can't last for long this thick (at least 2 hours it lasted)

Wind was supprisingly non-existant. no biggy.

About 30 minutes into the REALLY slow ride it started to sleet (rain/sleet mix).
Ok, so we get pretty well soaked in about 20 minutes. No biggy, our gear keeps ya warm even when wet.

Well, we decided to just ride the trees at a lower elevation to get out of the weather a little.

we had stopped for a minute to decide where to head next when there was a very loud CRACK followed by lightning.

We got to the truck in 15 minutes. loaded and out of there in another 10.

HOWEVER.
WE GOT TO RIDE ON MEMORIAL DAY!!

Sorry, no pics.
