I'm sure it's too late, as all good thing come to an end eventually. BUT, I think most of the drama could have been avoided with 3 simple steps.

1. Keep the donation option going.

2. Don't let users pimp thier products in thier signitures for free or allow any threads selling products exept in Swap Meet.

3. Charge a small fee to POST an ad in the Swap Meet.

I will voice my oppisition one last time to the pay site. I believe it will be the end of a once great forum. My opinion don't mean much in the big picture though.

What about the other two? They are the biggest source of lost revenue to this site. Most of the other forums I frequent with similar usage don't allow pimping. Plus, they only charge to use thier classifides.

I dont' think the signature line thing is really an issue.
The mods do try to reign in anyone who is marketing that is not a sponsor on the site.

They can do what they want, obviously. It's thier site. I've been around here alot longer than you have and I can tell you pimping is (was) a major revenue loss for Snowest. Now the revenue loss will be the mass exodus of members that don't want to pay and the casual lurker that will be turned away by limited access. Sledding is a short season, just wait until summer rolls around. I can hear the crickets already.

you don't think it is possible that maybe......just maybe some one could have been lurking for years and due to the sheer rush of members pouring into the site to pay their membership and become premium members, that that same someone could have now decided the time was right to hit up a free membership and give the site a whirl before pulling the trigger on a membership for themselves?

This is getting humerous, it's $30.00 for three years, most spend this amount to fill their tank. I got a three year subscription to the magazine with the fee, that makes it worth that much to me by itself. If you don't like it go away, stop whining!!!

no sense of community here. go to a place like H.A.M.B it's like a prestige thing to donate. Plus you get some killer deals from the vendors for being a member.
