We have just installed a new feature on SnoWest.
The ability to embed Google Maps

This feature is used by adding the following code in the Editor Mode.

[ MAP ] With no spaces next to the word "MAP"
Then insert the full address as you would on
http://maps.google.com

http://maps.google.com/maps?oe=utf-...ocal_result&ct=image&resnum=1&ved=0CBYQnwIwAA

And that is followed by [ /MAP ] Again with NO spaces.

So it would look something like this...

[ map ]165 S State Street Rigby, ID 83442-5312[ /map ]

Note.
You MUST go into the EDITOR MODE to use this.
Look to the top right corner of your post editor box for this little icon (
switchmode.gif
)

When you start a new thread, type out all the content of the thread, and do all your formatting. Then when your done and ready to insert your map, click on that icon and enter the text string, then press SUBMIT.

If you try to enter the code from the regular text box, your map will likely NOT display!

Where did you get that idea?? (wink)

Big thanks to Brian for working out the code for this one!!

A great way to show where you are riding and directions to events.

He he he.
Credit for this new feature has to go to MOUNTAINHORSE!

He came asking for it and its a pretty cool little tool!

Yes it does.

I manually typed in [ m a p ]---entered boolean search terms here---[ / m a p ]

And it worked slick as snot.

Would there be a way to insert a non-address map? (obviously not many addresses in the riding areas:face-icon-small-hap) Would you just enter in the utm coord's like you would in maps to find an area?

Cool feature btw, nice job!!:first:

try this

sweet!

OK, find where you want to map on google maps, right click on where you want to be center of map, select "directions to here", then the coordinates will pop up in the "to" window, copy them & paste into the format that Christopher mentioned [---]coordinates [/---]

worked right in the regular window for me.

well done guys! you're gonna make me doubt not paying when you add useful stuff like that!!!:D
