Well most of us on here are handy at things around the shop and house and have learned knowledge from our fathers and friends. So I thought it would be good to start a post on here with tips and tricks we have learned to share with others. This can be for sleds, cars, welding, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, heck even cooking....I was plumbing in the basement and used some old tricks an old neighbour and friend showed me.
Some may have heard these tricks before but here goes:
When trying to solder copper pipe (horizontal) that still has water dripping in causing your solder to not get hot can drive you nuts, so take shaving cream and blow a little in each pipe end and that will hold the water back until your done. Then when you turn the water on it will push the foam out.
Another one that most know already: When working with black plastic pipe or any plastic pipe or tubing. Just heat the ends with a propane torch or hot water and the fitting will slip right on.
