REALLY !!!.... little time before hanged ??!! Exactly what I asked for before you gave me the ax as a mod. I didn't even get a CHANCE non-the-less TIME BEFORE SWINGING BY THE NOOSE..
No forgiveness or funds from me.
I'm not missed, I know. I was here when this joint was a trail condition forum then switched over to SnoWest. That doesn't matter eather because it comes down to dividends now and not caring about us sledders other than the depth of our wallets. True colors surface.

Wise up everyone and go elsewhere.

COPY MY AVITAR AND POST IT AS YOURS WHEN YOU LEAVE !!

It's not SnoWest anymore it's a SnoJob..

If he's out I'm in where do I pay

great job!

I believe that this is a great decision, and all of us who use this service, as I do, will love the site! Snowest has offered us a great service for years, nothing asked, which I have used on an almost daily basis.
You guys are not asking too much. Plain and simple, you have offered this amazing service for free, so nothing to complain about there, now whoever wants to be a part of the new improved site will join, as I know I will. There is nowhere on the internet you can find so much info, classifieds, help, conditions, and talk, than here. You guys are amazing, and never once have I ever felt that I didn't get what I paid for in your subscriptions. Great Job keep up the great work. Let me know what I need to do to signup.

Sincerely
Loyal customer

So what going to happen to all of the advertising when they realize thier target group is now having to pay to use this forum ?

It just seems to me this idea is hendering the very thing that created it.

Don't get me wrong, $10 is trivial to me, but paid forums turn alot of good people away

Wow! Just got signed up as a member a couple of days ago and now looks like some change is on the way.
Acording to the different membership packages, it would still be free if you don't do alot of posting and don't need all of the fancy gadgets.
If I can't get the info I need for free I will gladly pay $10/yr.
This site has so much info on it I don't know why anybody would leave it, I don't even bother to ask my dealer a question because they wouldn't know the answer anyway.
It would be a shame to see people leave this site without giving the new version a fair trial.

Well when I heard sw was going to start charging I thought I was going to say goodbye , But $10 I think like thats not a problem Just for the swap meet section just in itself. I've purchased many things here where as I would have to look at alot of other places.
$10 like come on... Its a day of taking a sandwich to work instead of going to Mcdonald's , Wendy's or any other fast food joint .
I think for all the info having two turbo sleds , this site save alot of ???? to the dealer , which let's face it sometimes can't help all the time

Just my .02 ,,,,,, I'll stay & pay

i cant believe that people have $10,000 sleds and thoughsands of dollers in mods buttttttt can spend $30 on a year subscription, yet they offer you a deal if you are allready a member... so its even less! .

This would be a very good point but...for what ever reason, this sport has some of the "cheapest" people around. How many people drive 6 plus hours bypassing 2 or 3 dealers on the way to save $200-$300?? How many times are you at a sled show and over hear,"will you give me a better price?" How many times do you here from other riders," I get my parts for cost or 10% over?" What about the huge amount of people that buy oe parts online for a 10% discount rather than support their local dealers?? Just so you know, I'm not one of these people but all the people in my riding group are!

My point is everyone who throws up your argument is not considering that these type of people outweigh the "I don't care what it costs crowd or the $30 is nothing crowd". And they're this way because they can "afford" to be this way. It's an attitude in the sledding community that is very prevalent and more so than other industry's that I'm involved in.

Again, this is not me. Just the world I know.

I just hope christopher is right.

Honestly I don't think you would believe me if I told you it was dark at night or that the sun rose every morning. Whether or not I tell you the God's honest truth from his very own mouth won't make any difference at all.

You choose to believe that I am lying to you.
At that point, the whole discussion pretty much comes to a grinding halt.

I'm not calling you a liar, I realize on paper this place doesn't make any money.

But I'm also sure they have spent countless hours trying to put a figure on what this place has really earned them.

No business does something for nothing for 11 years, much less go in the hole.

Thats not counting the sweet little write off they get every year come tax time.

IF YOU QUITE TREATING US LIKE WETARDS, GAINING A LITTLE RESPECT WOULD BE MUCH EASIER

To all my friends at Snowest,

I believe this new bold move is going to be a good one and I support it 100%. I will be sending in my money for a three year subscription just as soon as it is ok to do so. I look forward to all the new happenings of this site, and yes, the extra speed will be nice.

Again, thanks for all you've done in the past and I look forward to our near future. . .

I have to agree, i think when all is said and done, we will NOT see a big increase in users, they will not know the beauty of Snowest, like us that have been here long enough to know its worth it. Blind users will see the $10 fee and turn around, so i guess what im saying is, i hope we still get a decent amount of NEW users, dispite the fee. Time will tell.

Could someone translate this for me

yep dosent make much sence does it. my work blocks snowest but not snow and mud and hard core sledders, and i told him that last night so he suggested a different place to sign on, but TODAY the blocked the other sites as of today after a year.......

and the rest is just angry rambling that no one will get or care about haha

Damn, miss a day and you got to read 500+ posts.

Ya, I'll pay the $30.00 for three years because I don't subscribe to any of there Mags and I hope they make money doing this.

Some random thoughts and questions from reading 500 posts.

Your telling me that at $30.00 per year you will still have to look at advertising?

For $30.00 a year there had better be some customer service.

MEANING

The members need to be listened to. You might not be able to do anything but they should be addressed.

The Mods should get free membership, because they should be earning it. They will be working for us not Harris Pub. There job should be making the site better for us, not keeping it clean for Harris.

I have read from Christopher that he has missed some threads, well I believe that the mods should be making sure that he's aware of all posts.

That also means that Christopher and Harris Pub. are directly responsible for the mods.

All the new bells and whistles mean nothing to me.

MountainHorse, are you the one pushing for the changes in the snowmobile sub-forums?

Like I said random thoughts and questions.

yep i know its crazy, the thing thats driving me nuts the most is people are seeing snowest is going to cost money....... then it says posting and reading and pm'ing is going to be free.................. and no one has noticed that, and how great the old snowest was, well the old snowest was reading posting and pm'ing and it still has that and thats STILL FREE.........

then the same people that are cursing the other stuff that they dont want to use only comes with the subscription.........

This is a great way to kill a forum. Why limit what basic members can post and view? I bought my first snowmobile in April of this year. I wanted to learn as much as possible so I have checked out several different forums. I liked this one so I stayed. If a site wanted to charge me just to see the rest of the sub-forums, I would have just moved on to the next site. After all, I wouldn't even know what I am missing. I really don't see how this business model is going to bring in new members, and it certainly will turn away some old members.

I have been visiting Bulletin Boards since 92. I have seen a lot of them come and go. From what I have seen, the ones that succeed are the ones that have active vendors, highly knowledgeable members, and newbies who ask questions. It looks like you will be eliminating one of those groups.

I have seen premium memberships work on some boards. Usually, it is by offering exclusive drawings to the premium members for free swag once or twice a month. Just small things like a free hat, t-shirt, DVD, etc that have been donated by the vendors. To really get people to subscribe, offer a bigger prizes once or twice a year. This is often good advertising for the vendors as well. On the other boards, I will usually buy from the vendors I see helping and donating, even if they are little more expensive.

I'm on here many times every day, and have bought and sold everything from sleds to clutch weights in the swap meet. There simply is NO better source of info for sledders anywhere else on the net; IMHO. I'll pay my 3 year membership and smile while I do it.:beer;

Christopher,
I enjoy the swapmeet section, without it I more than likely wouldn't be sledding, but if I can find the same information and access to used parts on another forum I will no longer be a part of snowest. Why not forgo all the upgrades and revert back to the site it was 12 months ago. In this time of economic uncertainty I will not spend a dime on snowest if I can find similar parts availability elsewhere. I believe there alot of sledders out there just like myself, who are not sure of employment a week from today.
