Snowbike on the open trailer, questions about your deck(s)

I have an old 8' open trailer that I had re-decked with 1/2" marine plywood this past fall. I didn't put anything over the wood but a couple of 42" lengths of old snowmobile track for where the track of a sled/snowbike would go, to help with traction getting up the deck on snowy/icy days.

I'm going to buy a new 10' aluminum, wishbone trailer and will use the same snowmobile track for the deck but wonder, what are you using to protect the deck from the front ski carbides/skegs?

When it is dry out, there is not much chance that the ski will slide over the track-mat, so I have been riding the ski up to the side of the track mat and as the ski gets up the deck, the edge of the Camso track will catch a bit of the track mat and help get the bike up the rest of the way. What do you use for the front ski and how to you have it set up on the trailer?

I can imagine that I will lay out some deck protector just off to the side of the track mat but not like I would with a snowmobile front ski track. I'll do that for the snowmobile side of the trailer but I will have one side dedicated for my snowbike as I'm almost sure I'm also going to go with the Bike Binderz as the $212.50 price of admission is now well worth it to me as dealing with the straps in the winter got old quickly. I just got 15%-off for today only. Check out the website and enter -30 to save. Knowing that I can also use the binderz for the dirtbike the rest of the year will be nice.

How do you have your decks set up on your open trailers?

I’ve been using the Caliber low pro grip glides. I added 5 pieces to my trailer ramp and they not only provide a smooth glide for the ski but also have traction for the track. I got this idea from the timbersled ramps they sell. Since my trailer is a four place I put the bike in the middle between other sleds. If I were making it dedicated to a snowbike and sled on a two place I would use the track pieces you speak of on the sled side only and invest in the low pro glide for the bike side. They are a bit spendy but well worth it and an easy install into your deck. I’d probably install them two wide but you could see if one set would suffice. You would have to be great at lining up the ski as I believe the glides are about 9” wide.

Thanks.

I'm going to go with the Caliber's like you have. If they provide enough tracking for the track, that would be great and I wouldn't have to worry about getting the ski over the rubber track.
