Snowbike insurance???

Got mine insured, or at least the bike for now, but they're trying to treat it like a street bike.

Told them to do whatever I did with my sled, but my agent is trying to make me get a motorcycle drivers license.

You guys calling yours sleds, dirtbikes, or what?

Seems like it's a mess like east guys are having for trail stickers or whatever.

I havent gotten to this point yet as I haven't bought the bike, but can you insure it as a dirtbike with 5-7000$ accessories/addons like you can with a sled?

After an exhaustive search for proper "snowbike" insurance, Brock from Penco Power Products in Kalispell directed me to a local State Farm representative who had dealt with this before. I had probably been through 6-7 estimate processes with other insurers and each time I was denied once they started to appraise the kit part of the setup. Everyone claimed they didn't have risk tables for the kit item and it was impossible to insure them like a snowmobile.

Julita at TJ Wendt's State Farm office found me a policy that is excellent. $250 deductible, $20,000 in coverage (with a small medical kicker) for about $15/mo. I can add anything I want to the bike and if I added something like a turbo I just have to call and expand my covered options. This policy is tied to your driving record so you can't have any tickets in the last 12 months or they pull the policy. You don't get much in medical coverage so you'll want to have a health insurance plan along with it if that is something you are looking for.

Very happy with State Farm. I'll be insuring all my toys with them in the future.

Keep in mind it also has to do with what State you are in. Progressive told me to take a hike after 3 independent calls with different offices in Montana.

Progressive insured mine as a dirt bike with accessories as well. Just called the 800 #. No big deal.
