Snowballs

Has anybody figured out something to cure the ski from packing snow on the bottom.
Rode yesterday and found ourselves eating alot of snow, snow conditions and air temperature, cause this issue.
Timbersled ski seemed worse than the Yeti ski, but Yeti ski was doing it as well.
Teflon spray, wd 40, rain x, ski wax.
Thinking the ski wax might work best, has anybody tried anything. Thx

Isn't the snow just packing in the center skag?

At least that is where the pour handling comes from starting from a stop.
We had that problem on one of our bikes with the T/S stock Skag.

But the Triple Point Skag didn't exhibit that problem.
Now both bikes have the Triple Point Skag:face-icon-small-win

Yes, snow is packing in the center skag, but also fills up the ski area, all in fresh wet snow, did have the triple carbide last year but still think we had same issue.

No. Snow is packing one side or the other or both of the center carbide. I have the triple Scagg on mine. Happened to me a couple times yesterday. Take off from a stop, crashed within about 15 feet. My buddy on a sled goes "I haven't seen you do that before!"Kicked the snow off the bottom of the ski and road away.

Same problem here, both TS and raptor front end were causing awkward layovers after being parked for a while in the wet sticky snow this weekend. Funny to watch, not so funny when it's your bike!

OK, sorry to not answer your question and I feel your pain.

I ski over 45 days a year and in the spring I use this between Hot wax-ings.

It is very easy to apply if your ski is warm and Dry.
If done properly you should get 10-20 applications out of 1 2 oz Tub

I think it should stick to the UHMW the ski is made out of.

On snow skis is will last 5-15 miles depending how dirty the snow is.:face-icon-small-coo

Yes it happend a dozen or so times to us, even if we stopped for 3 minutes, even after cleaning ski off, when you picked your bike back up your ski would start the process again, packing in there.
Just ideal conditions, snow and temperature.
Bought some snowboard wax today, will post after next ride.

Ski wax definitely works. I drip it from a waxing iron and then spread and smooth it with a heat gun and a rag. It lasts a few rides. Makes a big difference.

The problem is due to the stiff ski. If the ski is aloud to flex then the ice pops loose and will never stay attached.

oops take off

two solid days of that stuff. created some competition to see who could get the ski up blast off in a shallow wheelie and ditch the snow when you hit.

But, I found that when I stop, kick it into neutral, and before takeoff rock the bike back and forth a 1/2 foot or so, you feel that ski free up drop the hammer, clean starts rest of the day. As memtioned before, circle around and pack a landing, usually ok, its often just the top sun exposed sticky fresh that wants to pack and stick. I think if you pulled all the iron off the bottom of the ski once you were up high riding the fresh you might eliminate the problem, booking down un tracked trails rat racing you can feel that metal on the outside edge snow grabbing when you have to slow for a sharp turn. Never worked on our steel smowmobile skiis either. A no iron bottom in the deep stuff I think would be gooder.
