Hi all,
I got this weather update from our internal forecaster and thought you might appreciate knowing it's trying to be winter a mile high in the north Cascades...
WET SNOW CONCERN FOR NORTH CASCADES SUMMIT AREAS LATE TONIGHT AND ESPECIALLY TUESDAY NIGHT …
A much cooler weather system will be moving into the area tonight, bringing rain this evening, then occasional rain/snow showers overnight. Snow levels will be dropping down to near 5,000ft late tonight with wet roads expected overnight and some possible roadside slush at the summit. For Tuesday, expect increasing showers with temporary road slush near the summit in the afternoon hours during heavier snow showers as snow levels drop to near 4,500ft. Snow showers will continue Tuesday evening, occasionally heavy, decreasing after midnight. Expect minor road slush accums Tuesday night down to near 4,500ft and 2-4” snow possible at the summit area.
Usually, last weekend is a good one for viewing the autumn colors, but the weather has been remained so summery until now that there isn't much color yet - but that is obviously changing quickly.
