I would highly advise everyone to not go riding this weekend or this week. The snow is horrible and I need everyone to save some of this F'in EPIC December POW and snow conditions for me.
Me and my buddy couldn't decide if a blue bird day, or 2 more feet of snow would have made it better. Still a few rocks and stumps but the base is awesome and over the hood powder all day. Snotell reported 1 new inch at 6AM, get up to the snotel and there is easily a foot of fresh powder everywhere.
On a more serious note, on one of my situations/stucks, I got a chance to dig a snow pit. In the area I was at (in the trees of course) there is an awesome base. About 2 feet of really good dense snow. As I dug down to get me unstuck, and stepped where I had been digging I immediatly plummeted down 18" or so. Nothing but crap snow underneath. This was in the trees, in a tree well or sorts so I have no idea of how the actual snowpack really is, but at least Craig Gordon sounds really excited about it compared to previous years.
I'll post up a vid and 2 pictures later.
