Snow in Turbo

2008 bd turbo. I have 2 cool vents on left and right side. Holz shock tower vent. (screen material on back side). Last trip out I got really bad bog. Opened my hood and my turbo Intake was completely packed with snow. Cleaned it out and ran good. Every time I was in the powder especially turning to the right I got tons of snow in. This has never happened before. I think part of it was that it was -10 f. I think I figured where it was coming in at. It was on the right side where the hood meets the side fender right above the shock. I can almost stick my whole hand in this opening. Does anyone have this same problem? Does anyone make a vent that goes here or can you get a frog skin to cover this some how? Any info would be great. I am thinking of making a vent using some screen material and some sheet metal. I would rather just buy something though.

post some pics of this if you could. I have similar setup and dont have any issues with snow getting in like that. The older BD setups had the charge tube going over the exhaust pipe which when the hood was closed it would hit the tube causing the hood to not close a 100% on the right side. If this is your case then the best way is to get some extra rubber hood latches and anchore them right where the hood starts to cut up around the shock tower. this will hold the hood down and keep the snow out.

It's a new bd turbo kit so the hood is closing just fine. Been out quite a few times last time out was first time with this problem. I will post some pictures but I never realized the gaping hole that was designed into the hood. It's right above the shock the hood over hangs the fender. Usually I think the hood blocks the snow but last time out the snow was super dry and powdery. So, just put your hand on the black below the hood on the front right corner and there is a hole that is a straight shot into your turbo bay area.

I would bet just about anything it is coming through the side panel vent, the 2 cool vents only come with the prefilter material on the clutch side. With it beeing so cold the snow was probably really dry which causes it to get by the coarser screen. I made a side panel vent on my old 09 dragon and the first ride out snow came right through when carving left, I had to put prefilter material behind it.

I have an 08 that I put the new front end on. I have the same gap but I know why. I was unloading out of the bed of my truck at the pass and accidently caught my bumper on the tailgate. It tweaked it just enough to create what sounds like the same gap you have.

I don't think it's coming through the side vents because I have run the sled for 3 years in all kinds of deep snow with no problems. The only thing that has changed is the turbo this year. I think the snow used to come in but would hit the can and melt. This year it just comes in and gets sucked up by the turbo. It comes in the opening that was designed to be there. I can stick my hand and almost my arm through this opening. If the can was there I could touch it. Now it goes through and falls down on the turbo intake. Once I get some photos up this will make more sense.
