Snow/Ice Removal Tool?

Does anyone carry a small plastic mallet or chisel to remove ice buildup from your sled without beating the snot out of it? It seems like a good idea to me, but maybe I'm just a little too, uh, fussy? If you do, what do you use?

I carry the left over cut end from the last time I changed sliders on a past sled.
About 12" with a 45* angle cut on one end. It has a good weight, acts as a chisel and wedge and doesn't mar the surfaces.

I use a rubber mallet at the end of the day when we're back to town. I've found it works best to tap the boards from underneath.

most camping supply stores have a plastic mallet for driving tent pegs - works pretty good - I borrowed one from some Cat guy. I carry a garden trowel now but I'll probably switch to the plastic mallet - maybe put a 45 degree angle on the end of the handle for chipping - I like that idea -

i use a small dead blow hammer.it is about 10 inchs long.it is all plastic but business end is filled with lead beads.be careful not to go crazy with it but i have been using one for 10 yrs and works great.available@granger in many sizes.

I carry a small rubber hammer in my tunnel bag for a couple years. Is great to have when ice builds up

X2 on the snobunje tool that Obile had a link of. Works great.

Ok, I think I will give that a try. Do you find it is heavy enough to chip away pure ice build up? I can see it would be nicer for scraping away lighter stuff that a mallet wouldn't work that well on.

Hmk makes a shovel with a hammer and ice pic on the handle for doing that. I have one and it works great.

I use the small hand held vehicle window frost/ice scraper, they are small to fit in a bag, they have a good handle, plastic so they are not hard on your sled.

Same here. I reinforce the handle to use as a hammer to knock/loosen ice, then just scrape it off. Works well, very inexpensive and easy to store/use.
