It covers the spindles, and it gets tight as you pull the back two straps. You may be thinking of a different cover.

Regardless, this is the best cover I have ever used.

No five finger discount, when the M7 came out, I let the owner use my sled to create the pattern. He gave me a couple of covers and the M cover sat in a box until I got my M8.
