snocross

For all of you that race, i was wondering what the main costs of racing.(snocross) I have wanted to do it for the longest time but everyone has been saying its so expensive which makes my dad iffy about starting. from what i can tell you have the gas in sled, gas in truck, entry fees, overhauls to sled, and ofcourse parts you break. cant really see what would all break as far as costs so let me know. also food and hotel but not counting that. Let me know what you guys seem to spend money on that can make the racing season expensive.

The biggest thing here is the travel and hotels...But that depends on how far you are from where you race. This year, most of the season's races are what one location which is only an hour from us...Other than that, depends on how much you actually break...Last year I only broke a few parts...First race, I did something to the choke cable which was flooding my engine when I hit the throttle and second one was I hit my last jump in practice 2 days before leaving for a race and I snapped the rear control arm in half...That cost me about $150 next day air shipping and about $100 for the part...

Last year for 2 sleds. It cost me around 10grand to race. This is just counting entry fees, hotel, food, parts, fuel & propane, oil, other small items. Now if you want to count the price of new sleds, truck, trailer, insurance, clothing, and other things you are talking big bucks. Racing is not cheap if you are going to race the nationals and all of the regional’s that you can plus practice and testing time.
