snapped my helix in 1/2!!

Hey, has anybody had this problem? I just had my helix snap (couldn't figure out what the vibration was till the sled wanted to start in 6th gear!!!) and not sure if it's a more common thing than I thought or if I should be watching out for it.

also curious for opinions on what kind of helix to run, I've got a 141 1000 with 185 or better hp, but ride at 10,500 or higher. I have a 36, tried & didn't like a torsional 34(didn't try to tune at all, just slapped it on from Qrieff's sled on sunday) and had a 44/40 for a while but it went through belts even worse than it does now.

btw, if anybody wants to sell a 09+ helix, let me know. If I could find one cheap I'd be up for trying about anything.

Rode with a guy Saturday thats 10 m8 did the exact same thing. The strangest thing we've ever seen, but perhaps there is an issue. Who else has seen this?

I snapped the helix on my 07 m1000. It was the stock helix and I think the bolts backed off first and then the rest let go. Oh well I wanted the rktek setup anyways.

the helix itself snapped at the legs, bolts were fine.

Got a 40/36 coming from BDX to get me going, but I'm open to suggestions for anything different to try.

last year, i had some extreme heavy vibrations, had no clue until i got home and removed the secondary.....helix was almost ready to pop off and shoot parts through my side panel, lucky i found it before hand......and this was maintenance induced on my part, tried to use cheap screws from home depot after i did a helix exchange.....all bolt head snaped off, as if the OEM parts are not cheesy enough:face-icon-small-dis

are you saying the helix bolts were still tight and the helix split in two?

im having one hell of a time clutching my 2010, not sure my 43/36 is any better then the stock straight 36...and the torsional idea sounds good on paper, but i noticed zero difference when i tried one, it is nice to have the tweakable belt deflection when you change a belt

sidenote - i purchased about 80 of these suspect bolts a few weeks ago, never have enough

One of the guys I ride with cracked one on Saturday, clean through one arm, we didn't notice loose screws, I'll have to check.

Are you guys running a shift assist, i know they can bust because the bolts but i am wondering if yours didn't bind and even with the shift assist it could bind if bearings were bad, with the 09 and newer i would definantly add a shift assist those helixes look weaker with the reverse notch, how do the rollers look?

I sheared all 9 bolts on my secondary and blew it up. This was a complete warranty issue but today I blew up the spider on my primary. Complete BULL ****! I run a 2010 croosfire 800 withe the 141 powerclaw track, usually run @ 10k + elevation. Not happy with all the clutching issues! Been through 3 primary springs, a whole secondary, 4 belts, and now a primary. WTF

Do you guys have any pictures of the carnage? I'd like to know what to watch for on mine,

We you running the stock secondary spring or something stiffer?

I have the Skidoo Purple spring I'd like to run and it's a L O N G spring that may add a bunch more pressure on the weak spots on these helixes. Hum?? Maybe I'd better hold off for a bit?

Thanks for the information.
