anyone ever hit a deer on their sled? hit a little one today and destroyed my hood. couldn't believe the lack of damage as I was probably doing 50mph. any new mesh hoods coming out, I guess I need one(08 m1000). any suggestions?

Bet it tried to jump into your hotdogger. Good thing it didn't hit you instead. How bad is your hood, can it be fixed? Let me know and I'll ether fix it for you or paint a new one for ya.... for cheep! :beer;

It did hit me!!! had to push it off my chest as we rode down the trail. I think we are both ok, thank god he was a little guy!!

Product tester hit one a few weeks ago, killed the deer, destroyed a hood, and messed up Shain.

my buddy was leading the pack of 3 on a nighttime ditch ride in mn last winter.. bastard thing jumped off the road and landed on his hood. he was going about 40-50mph ducked and it flipped over his head. hood was pretty bashed but we rode out the rest of the night. lucky it didnt knock him off because the 2nd guy ran the deer over too.. i barely missed it. he likely would have been in the same situation as his brother who suffered severe brain damage when he was run over in a snowmobile accident
had a real scare when i was 15 and rode the sled like a car. riding alone heading home at like midnight wide open throttle down a snow packed dirt road and a ****ing deer comes running out of the field.. sprinting full speed it luckily did a big arc right next to the road but it wouldn't have been a good night had it not turned... learned to be more careful after that

I hit one 2 years ago in the UP of Michigan, a big one. I saw the deer on the side of the trail and locked up the track (was going 60-70) and sure enough it jumped across the trail, didn't hit the sled at all caught me square in the chest. Knocked me off the sled, buddy came up from behind to see me laying on one side of the trail, the deer on the other and my sled about 100 feet up the trail. Deer got up and ran away, I was a little slower to rise. That was the incedent that sold me on wearing a vest.

Never hit one... really never see them either. Snow is too deep where we ride for them to live. They are all down on the winter range benches.

we never see them either!! snow is also deep where we ride (sicamous, revelstoke), but I hit it at 5km marker on the trail so it was fairly low.

it was night we were racing on a lake. never would a guessed deer out on the lake. there was 4 of us side by side and ran into them at 100. no major damage and no one hurt. we were lucky. we were all able to dodge them so it wasn't a real direct hit. i caught a back leg with a ski
