Small Engine School

MSCTC Detroit Lakes Powersports Program is pretty good! Detroit Lakes, MN 56501

Kent is the instructor cool guy!

Being so close to Cat and Polaris they get alot of demo vehicles and some extra attention.

I am another vote for Detriot Lakes. I graduated from there when Don Anderson was teaching the outdoor power program. I am not sure if has retired though. That man has more knowledge in his little finger than most people have in their whole body. It great school, and a pretty nice town. I learned a ton at that school, and made pile of good friends. There is also a marine engine program that is excelent at that school. Good luck in what ever you decide.

Well at D.L. they had job placement programs. I know there were shops that would call and ask if we had anyone graduating, and if they would like an interview. I think money can vary from job to job. Do you want to turn wrenches, work the counter, or wear a tie everyday? Depending on if you are willing to relocate you could maybe make better money. I wouldn't count on making a bunch of money right out of the gate, but after a few years the money can be ok.

Alex tech is a good choice. We got new machines from all manufacters from briggs to mercruiser, instructors are very personal and will do anything to help you find a job. placement and salary might be little tough to get the way the powersports market is right now, as a salesman for a polaris, yamaha, honda dealership things are pretty tight and shop hours are getting cut. just fyi

Don Anderson did retire. You were very lucky to have him as an instructor. The new guy kent is very good (no Don Anderson), but Don does stop in often and keep an eye on his program. Kent does a very good job and keeps the class a very hands on.

Anyone got more info on Alexandria tech? I think thats where I'm going to go for their small engine course and would like to know more. I did take a campus visit a month ago and it seemed like a great place. How is the town? The instructors? Any good lodging places as the school has none? Any part time jobs around? Thanks.............
