Came across this looking for ski loops today. Pretty cool idea.

Damn cool but not $250 cool
I agree, cool idea, but just too expensive to execute.
I don't agree with it being a good idea. huge fail IMO. since I am a professional at getting stuck and all....
-snow flap is usually bent OVER the back bumper and trenched down a few feet. how the hell do you get it off then?
-price is ridiculous. I mean down right ridiculous
-mtn guys usually CUT there flaps to a much shorter height for ease of reverse in the pow. the longer snow flap means your pushing a wall of snow in reverse usually jamming into the track.
but the most important point-the biggest part of the fail, IMO:
-never carry your shovel on your sled. this applies more so to the mtn folk but to any back country rider as well.
your sled is heavy...in an avalanche situation...it will most likely be buried. how are you to assist in any rescues when your shovel is buried??
you go through the ice on a lake or river...your shovel is with the sled. you need to build shelter....or make a crossing with snow...
this snow flap shovel is just a bad idea. its not a neat idea, its a total fail in every regard.
this topic of shovels on sleds and in pack has been discussed a million times.
most guys carry a SECOND shovel to get unstuck so you dont need take your AVY pack off. Only emergency stuff in the pack, everything thing needing access throughout the day on the sled.
