sly dog skis... HELP

I dont really know what category to place this under but i have an 03 mod 700 rmk and to me it feels as if the front end sinks in the snow more than it floats and the sly dog skis have me looking. Im just wondering if there are any of you out there that could help me decide. I would be going with the 7" or 8" powderhounds. And im not to worried about the money aspect because i plan on taking them off this sled when i sell it and buying different mounts for the new one. Some people say they dart on the trail and over a few years start to change their shape. Most of the cases with changing their shape is because of the weight put on them in the off season i believe, so if that is a factor i would put blocks under the front end to lift it off the ground when in storage. Im just trying to figure out if i want to buy a product that has bad reviews and good reviews. $400 isnt just a small chunk of cash to put down on skis that arent worth anything a few years down the road. Thanks guys!!

My brother runs the slydog powderhounds and when we swap sleds I hate them. They feel like front end is on two huge surf boards. Go with slp powder pro alot better powder ski and don't feel retarded when riding

I run the 8" powderhounds, they work great in the deep snow and i have no issues on trail. They are better than stock in all aspects. I have never used SLP PP's so i cannot comment on them.

If you are not running in alot of deep snow then you may wish to stick with the 7" slydogs. The 8's are wide, mine is a mountain sled so thats why i went for the wide ones.

SLP PP's work great on the Edge RMK chassis, but the 7" Slydog Powderhounds have better floatation... I do no remember who makes 1/2" extra keel inserts but these are a must on the Slydogs IMHO and run 6" carbides.

i bought a set from Mark at cmx. he sells a modified carbid for them that works great. never had any problems with them darting. 8 inch skis felt wierd at first but once i got used to them i like em. took 1/2 inch out of the outside of the spindal and added back to the inside as an aluminum spacer...much like the new pro ski stance adjusters. this helped. only ever used simmons flex ski (6'') before these. they float much better and i have noticed that when behind sleds with simmons the slydogs will turn sharper in powder. also have never caught on trailer during laoding. only bad thing about them is they are light...i know thats good but is bad when stuck or low snow conditions. slydog recomends that you never pull on ski hoops when stuck, they are only held on with two screws. i hit a rock with the edge of the ski this season and it tore the plastic close to the center were keel meets top flat part of ski. overall performance is great!!! just wondering about longjevity/durability.

thanks guys! If I were to get the sly dogs I would probly get the 7" and I dont really care what ski handles better on the trail since I dont ride the trails that much. I just want something with the best flotation. Im leaning more toward the PPs because of durablility but the sly dogs probably float better, owell. Id rather have a ski that lasts than one you have to buy every 2-3 years. And plus the PPs are cheaper!!

What carbides would you guys with them prefer??
