SLP has posted their numbers for their Pipe, Y-Pipe and Can package. On a positive it is good that there is still a little power available on this sled. From what others were finding (Speedwerx and D&D) this seems about right, probably 5 HP for a Y-Pipe, 5 HP for a pipe, and 0 for a lightweight can.

I really liked my D&D pipe and y-pipe on my M7, so I will probably wait to get their Pipe w/ Y-pipe numbers. I run 0-3000Ft

Not bad, whats the verdict on needing a controler ?

That's awesome!

It saves 18.5 lbs and darn near mirrors the performance of the SLP Performance Edition package using only a pipe kit.

Performance Edition Kit - 169.4 hp
2010 Single Pipe Kit - 166.6 hp

I think Cat did their homework!

Nice work SLP

Poo 800 twin pipes - $895.00 Poo 800 Powerdome heads - $330.00 Powerclaw track - $580.00 Race Gas $6.50/ gal. Getting your Poo a$$ whooped by a stock 2010 M8. PRICELESS (confessions of a poo rider)

The thread by mmsports said 163 H.P. SLP says 157. How about we get our stories straight. Are they doing the dyno at the same elevation? NOW, if you could get an additional 9 HP on top of 163 that would be something to talk about. That there is almost 172 HP, for $650.00. I think my Poo blood is slowly fading to green n orange. Too bad there isn't a Green dealer worth a $hit for 250 miles

Dyno numbers are meaningless except to compare before and after gains, but only on the exact same dyno under the exact same parameters. I've got a diesel that dyno'd 596 hp in Seattle, 631 in Idaho Falls and 483 in Ogden. All within 14 days of each other.

Dynotech Research has the numbers up on the D&D y-pipe and Pipe.

High humidity day (Near 100%) brought numbers down a little.
Stock, 156.9 @ 7800
D&D Pipe with stock y-pipe and can 159.8 @ 7900 +2.9 hp
D&D Y-pipe with stock pipe and can 164.1 @ 7900 +7.2 hp
D&D Y-pipe and D&D pipe with stock can and stock ecu 168.9 @ 7900 +12 hp

Don't need a good dealer, because the engines don't melt down every other ride.

Very good point. I hope they are as good as the 07-09 mill. I had a hot grip go out on my cat. I took it in and the next weekend the other one took a $hit. Just a little bad luck and not really that big of a deal, well, if my wife hadn't ran the Dirtymax out of diesel on the way home. It is really convenient to have a dealer 10 min from the house, but then again, it is really easy to drive 10 min from the house and drop a load of cash on an impulse buy too. Good luck to all those on your new 2010 m8 sled, i am SOOOOOOOO jealous.

Yet, the dyno runs shown above are all from the same elevation on the same SLP dyno (albiet at different times).

So basically at SLP's elevation the 2010 sleds were about 157 ish hp stock. That seems well within the figure I have been reading for a stock motor.

If the pipe works as good as last year I don't care what the dyno says. SLP stuff just seems to work good. What's the old saying, "never been beat by a dyno". :D

According to slp the new 800 ho, and the dragon 800 are within 1 hp of each other in stock form. hmmm!

Exactly .. in 3 years on my M8 the only reason I've had to go to the dealer was for a re-flash. NOTHING has gone wrong or broken on this sled that I didn't cause myself, or was a wear part. Starts by 3rd pull EVERY TIME .. etc., etc..

Looking back on the 90's Doo's & early 00' Poo's I've owned, there is absolutely no comparison to the reliabilty of a M. Hope the 2010 motor is the same.

Sorry to highjack by preaching to the quire.

So what is the real hp numbers for the 2010's? From what i been reading it changes everytime time. From 157hp to 165hp stock form.
thanks

I don't really care what the actual hp number is, but rather what the hp number is compared to the old m8, the dragon and the xp all done on the same dyno.

SLP is funny, because they show a low hp number for the cat ho when compared to other guys who have dyno'd it, and show a high number for the dragon 800 when compared to what other guys are seeing.

It would be nice to see all the 800's run the same day on the same dyno.

The Crossfires and M's are down a few hp from the F chassis they have a different pipe configuration. 157-159 for the CFR and M's, 161-163 for the F chassis.

the thing was built ported, why do you think with a slp pipe it's almost the same as a full performance package on a 09

"the thing was built ported, why do you think with a slp pipe it's almost the same as a full performance package on a 09"

Exactly!

When I asked SLP what the new Cat motor looked like after they go a chance to tear one down. I was told, it looks an awful lot like our Performance Edition package with a lightened crankshaft.

No wonder it's so close.

The interesting thing is, SLP said they have had ZERO known burn downs with their SLP Performance Edition Package. Hopefully, the 2010 engine will fare just as well! :beer;
