SLP Twin pipes RMK 800

I just purchased new SLP twin pipes for my RMK, i got my ECU reflashed and i also got cluthing done. the SLP website says that i need to run 20% 108 mixed fuel. being as i live in an area where that fuel is scarce till race season i was curious if you have to run the race gas with it. Any input would be cool. thanks

If SLP recommends this then the simple answer would be "yes". With the problems that alot of people have been having on their 800 CFI with the stock pipe and mapping on 91 octane fuel I would be abit leary of running straight 91 with the twins even if you were at a high altitude where this would be less likely.

I have Carls cylinder/case porting and a cut head on my sled and run 30% at 6000 feet and 50% at 2000 feet as per Carls recommendations. So if you are at 8000 feet with an otherwise stock engine I would say that the 20% is simply insurance, they took 2 full points of compression out over last years head and SLP recommended 20% on that motor. I would try weining it off race bit by bit, but only if you have a reliable source of fuel, also keep in mind that you can use the ethanol wires as some protection if you see deto, granted if you have severe deto more fuel will not help.

i know you have slp clutching definitly not the best but whatever rpm they have you running at as an example 8500 try 8650 on some sleds it makes a big difference in power just exsperiment

Good luck w/ the shock tower bracket. Make sure you have a new fuel filter. That is what the dealer is trying to convince why my twin piper burned down

what weights are you running to get it to 8650?

It totally depends on the head that you are running first and foremost. Compression seems to be the first consideration followed closely by the design 2010 version acts totally different then the 2008-2009 head even in the same ratio.

Fuel octane ratio is one of the critical factors to getting your twins to reach their full potential. Not enough you det all of the time too much and it runs lazy. Right on with all other things lined up and it's super impressive and very much worth the fuel hassle and costs!
