slp pipe

does the slp y-pipe, pipe and can with the control box really make 192 hp. and how much adjusting do you have to do with the box, any feed back will help.

i assume you are refering to the m1000?

i'm sure at sea level with it all the way leaned out, it made close to that hp. not a real life situation but impressive none the less. i have the pipe kit sitting at my shop, just debating weather i wanna mess around with it. tuning it and clutching for it etc, etc.

The power commander is the best box out there hands down You just plug it in with slp settings and never have to adjust it again . I have had boondockers box and hated it always adjusting . My friend got the power commander and never has to touch it (on his m1000) I just got a m1000 and I have bought one for me and one other friend has also . We are a hard sell on the box thing and we love them . SLP clutching don't work very good though but the pipe works .

what happens with the power commander when you add more mods? back to the manufacturer for more updates?

there is a really good article in Snowtech on tuning with the PC III. It comes with a usb cable and software, and you can make any changes to the map using your computer. The downside, as I see it, is that even if your using a laptop, you still need a computer to make changes. With that being said, I had one on a motorcycle and really liked it.:beer;

no single pipe will ad over 30 hp! whit cylinder porting 190 hp is possible. just a pipe, y-pipe and can is about 175-180 hp tops on the 1000

I dont think speed wrex's is claiming those numbers. And last year we ran 3 1000's one with speed wrex one with slp and a stocker. There is no way either pipe added 30 hp. There was a decient increas in hp but i would guess more like 15-18 max. Dyno numbers dont seem to mean much on the hill, maybe the dyno showed 192 but out in the real world it sure didnt feel like a near 200 hp sled.

one of my friends has a 09 m1000 162 SP with D&D y and slp can, he also weighs 60lbs less than me. I have a 09 m1000 162 std with full slp, bdx intake, bd box and other small tuning devices. I kick his a$$ every where noticeably. Now take into fact that we ride at 10,000ft in thin Montana air. so a stock m1000 is going to have a lot less hp. you loose about a 3rd of the barometric pressure at 10,000ft so 165hp is about 110hp add a y and a can maybe gain 12hp then take away for altitude and you have 8hp +110hp= a total of 118hp at 10,000ft My sled should be around 195hp and 130hp at 10,000ft so thats a 12hp difference and I weigh 60lbs more. I would say my sled is every bit of 200hp rated at see level. Have also beat a culter 1000 rated at 205hp.

I live in Michigan @ 600 feet.
My2007 X/Fire stock made 162 hp. Added the D&D Y pipe & it made 171. (9 hp from the Y Pipe. That's Big ) Added a D&D single pipe & it ran 7800 but gained No HP. ( Uncoated pipe never got hot enough.)
Put a SLP Y Pipe-Pipe & Can [plated] & made 176 HP on Stock cylinders.
Ported the cylinders to a stage II ( decked .024 off the bottom of the cylinders with stock compression & .015 off head 125 lbs.) & it made 185 HP @ 7700.
I than added a RK Tech head 13:1 & it now makes 189 hp [4 hp gain}with No timing key as of yet. Sled I feel runs great but not even close to the claims.
The F-8 Fire Cats that are in the 165ish range run well but I have them Just covered as my sled is easy 50 pounds more in weight.

""NO WAY the SLP makes what they claim on a stock motor. But it does wake the 1000 right up.
With all I have done to it if I added a 2 degree key it might get to the 192hp claim.
The SLP pipe is a good power added in my opinion but No 25 hp gain.

Well it will be my assumption then, But.
if your right then there is no way the 2010 m8 is a 160hp or even close, talking to another friend that rode the 2010 demo m8's at 9,000+ft couldn't come close to slp m1000 that went with them, he flat played with them ( thats what he said?). O well, I sure like it either way. but it sound like some porting and a head is well worth it.

Darren it won't let me pm you.

I run a Boondocker box.
The numbers are very close to the D&D pipe as I run on the SLP.
7800 + 20
7200 + 15
6500 + 10
zero the rest of the way down

I run a NGK 02 censer & it likes 11.90 to 12.10 @ WOT
I have a Sno Pro air horn ( Cheep like $6.00)
Clutching I run Supreme Tool weights & a Ski Doo spring with the STM cover.
This year I added the RK Tech kit for the secondary. Hopefully I won't break as many belts. ( One every 3-400 miles)
I made a torque link that fits to the bottom of the crank case to help engine from moving.
Any questions 231-590-9004
Mike
