SLP Pipe worth the money?

The pipes were worth it on the Dragons, but I've heard not for the Pros. What's the feeling out there?

i disagree. definitely worth it. had to add two grams and pulls more rpm more consistently. in fact, i felt it was a larger improvement than on the dragon. didn't even have to change my clutching on the dragon but it did seem to help or at least more the bog to a less annoying spot in the rpms. fwiw, i ride from seal level to 5000ish feet

Did you end up doing the SLP then cory?

"Worth it" is a relative term. 6 horses or so is worth it to me when you combine it with a couple other mods. The motor feels so much more crisp with the dynoport or SLP pipes. SLP is a great bang for the buck also

ooops, it is summer time, didn't think anyone was paying attention...:) no one (specifically certain people that are never in the polaris section...) is suppose to know about the pipe...:) kidding (well mostly anyway...)

yes i did end up with an slp pipe. long story short it was a take off from a friend's sold pro. too good of a deal to pass up type thing. pretty impressed from the last couple of rides i had on it. definitely needed more clutch weight and "seemed" to run stronger. but as you said that is all relative. i am really considering new heads and would really like to try the whole timing key shim route also. but then i have mapping and fuel issues. don't want to run more than pump and need a wide band to see what adjustments need to be made. we'll see what happens. the thing runs so damn good as it is i really shouldn't F with it. but this is me we are talking about...

I ended up ordering the slp pipe and everything to run there recommended settings. Will see how it does this year.

If you are focused on running pump only, just go with a little lower compression, 12.2 or 12:1 maybe. Or get the PC5 and add a little on the top end and stick with 12.5:1? But you know all this already...and I know you'll end up with more goodies on that buggy by the end of the season, haha.

I too am interested in the shim and or timing key. But I am also slightly concerned with raising the cylinder given the past issues with the 800 CFI motors, i.e. piston skirt support, cylinder-to-case clearance (loose fit), and the piston scuffing, and cylinder cracking that results from those 2 issues. Time will tell with this new motor but I am optimistic about it given the condition of the pistons and cylinder on my '11 after 1700 miles. This is probably better suited for a separate thread though as I am sure others share my concerns and have the curiosity as well :D

Sorry a little off topic there..

This winter had a 2011 Assault Polaris Pro in the shop and i installed the pipe on the sled.... Didnt seem to pull the right rpms... low end was good so i did weights and a SLP spring and it had AMAZING low end but **** top end.. So i then put the Power Comander on that came with the SLP pipe kit and holey cow... The sled rips like no other with the SLP spring and weights. I would deffinetly recomend it and it seems like it adds more then 6 HP... wish louder tho!.. haha but it runs CRISP

louder? really? that is the best part about the setup, not one person i ride with weekly notice when i added the pipe.

chad, i do have the pc5 with whatever map was installed by slp. if i was ever really willing to run race gas i'd get everything mention above plus the high comp 10000 foot head. that would be a ripper without going big bore or turbo. a new "better" head is what i'm most interested in right now. one that has a more efficient burn rather than one that just raises or lowers comp. but if i did that i'd really want to add a wide band just so i could watch things. but yeah, i'm guess i'll add a few more options this season... it always seems to happen no matter how hard i try not to do it...:)
