I have a 08 XP 154 and I have installed a starting line Y pipe and can, air intake and 3-6000 foot heads on. The sled won't run and it keeps setting off the knock censor code on dash. I have tried SLP's Jet specks and I have also jetted up myself and nothing seems to help. I put 40,000 shims in needle and 560 mains to see if it was running to lean and sensor still goes off. Checked with my fuel distributor and we are running non ethanol gas. I also tried adding octane boost and that doesn't help. I have to take the sled to the dealer to get the code to clear. It won't clear on its own.

Have you tried siliconing all the exhaust springs? A long shot but worth a try.
yes I have all the springs siliconed. the sled won't run out ontop end. I have only ridden the machine about 15 miles in 3 trips to the mountins. When it throws an error code the first thing that happens is the temp light comes on and then the check engine light and then the dash flashes knock code. But the engine doesn't run any different. I ride the machine back to the trailer. Elevation is 5000 ft where im riding.

We needed to run 30% 110 octane with the head and y pipe to get rid of the detonation. The detonation sensor and/or the water temp sensor will go off. Messing with the detonation sensor mount does nothing as there is detonation (very obvious knocking).
Seems you can run either the head and pipe or pipe and y pipe, but when you run the head and y pipe = detonation.

Can some one till me why I have to take the machine back to my dealer to clear the code. I removed the knock sensor from the head and held it in my hand with the engine running and the knock sensor was still on.
Exactly you need better fuel........that sensor is saving your engine. Better fuel or you need a different set up imo.

First of all, holding your knock sensor in your hand will not solve it. It has to determine some kind of "noice". If you want to make the sled run whitout it, mount it to f.ex the recoil cover. Should be enaugh noice, but no knocking
Have you tried to add a thin layer of silicone gasket between the sensor and the head? On the cudneys is recomended to do so. Runs a cudney head, and newer seen the knock sensor lightning up.

i have the same set up. install a copper washer under the knock sensor.
