So Ive looked up some of the reviews people have had and everything seems pretty positive. I already have the pipe kit so I would be getting the porting and head work done but Im just wondering if anyone really thinks porting is worth the cost. Maybe a dumb question but going to college really limits my funds and Im split between having the porting done or using the money to buy a few misc. mods for my 07 M8 instead.

Guess Im just kinda lookin to see what route others have takin. Oh and if theres anyone headed to WSU this fall, Im lookin for new riding buddies if anyone gots room:D

i've read the porting makes the biggest diff on the 8! i'd say go for it.

p.s. i graduated from wsu 2 year ago! best four years of my life! (from what i remember:D:beer;)

IMO. You would gain more performance by putting a new track on your '07 then you would by porting it. The Power Claw or the Camo Extreme 2.5" will make your sled feel like you added 15-20hp!:beer; Seriously! That stock track sucks that bad!

if you don't have a Power Claw yet get one its the best thing you can do for that sled, and think about the tunnel mod as well. The PC is a better track than the 2.5, works just as good in hard pack and 5 times better in the fluff. the 2.5 camo may have just a little bit better breaking on ice.

You wont see 15hp from a Y pipe! More like 5hp! That being said..... Throw a high comp head and a good air intake on and port it and THEN you MIGHT see that 15hp from that Y pipe!

15hp from a Y pipe! THATS FUNNY!!

hes not talking about 15 hp from just a y pipe, it is the y pipe, pipe, and can setup from Slp

My dealer did a 09 m8 ported with the slp pipe on it and it is the best running m8 I've seen less a turbo, but I'm not sure who ported it, if your interested in finding out call Mountain Valley motorsports in Cody, WY

Thanks for all the thoughts guys. Gary, Ill prolly be takin you up on that offer :D. I had thought about doing the powerclaw and tunnel mod, but like I said, I just started wondering if porting would be the way to go for this year. The other factor leaning me that way is I already have the top end of the sled apart to be freshend up so I thought maybe this would be the best time for porting. I was figuring up the cost for the port job and it would actually cost me about 900 bucks cause Im not gonna do the reeds and I already have the clutching I need and the intake so all I need is the porting and head work plus the fuel controller which I would go with the Power Commander.

Just to kinda figure up cost, does anyone know what the goin rate for a 153 power claw is?

There is another thread on the cost of the PC running right now, Gary just ordered one so he should know for sure. I think for WA snow you might be better off with the 90 duro PC though. But the regular still works awesome
