SLP Performance Kits

I was curious if anyone out there is running any of SLP's performance kits? The warranty on my D8 is up in June and I am thinking of the Stage 4 performance kit with the porting, head, y-pipe mod, etc.... I was just wondering if any of you have this kit or know anyone who does? I am interested in the entire package and know it seems a little spendy but I like the fact you can still run pump gas without any serious modifications. SLP told me that it is a very crisp responding, all-around upgrade. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I was curious about this too. Seems like 2300 for an extra 12 or so HP's is a little steep. I was thinking about doing something along those lines, but I already have the single pipe and can. I was thinking about getting a PCV for it and maybe doing a shock or suspension upgrade instead. I have changed my clutching quite a bit and my 09 feels like a whole new snowmobile. SLP claims six extra HP from the single pipe so I figure If I am at 161 HP well clutched, I don't know if I could pony up the dough for another 6 horses. What are your running rpms like? I went from around 8000 max to 8350 max and it feels like it has 10 more horsepower. If you are already happy with your clutching, maybe a different track? I heard the Challenger extreme makes quite a bit of difference as well. Or if money is no object....TURBO? Sorry, not much help, but I don't really know of anyone who is running the stage 4 kit. Maybe there is a reason for that?

The way I understood it the 2010 update Polaris provided us in the Fall of 09 should have givin you another year on your engine warranty. Somebody correct me if I am wrong about that?? You mentioned that your warranty was up in June....

That's what I was told from the dealer too, around June. Whatever though, they aren't going to warranty my sled because I have heat tape on the underside of my hood which would indicate an aftermarket pipe (which I have) so what the F@ck....!! Do It. It will probably come with the correct mapping which will solve the Poo EPA problems.

Yeah, I got a letter from Polaris and it says the warranty is up June 1st. I bought my 09 Dragon mid-season, so I am getting a year and 4 months of warranty total. Pretty sure they wanted to let everyone ride the new update for an entire season before eliminating the warranty. I actually think this was good of Polaris, especially for the 08 owners.

As far as the SLP kit goes, SLP told me not to focus on only peak horsepower, but instead, the low to mid power. They said it is an extremely good kit for boondocking and the numbers are a little misleading.

Again, I was just curious as to whether anyone was running the Stage 4 Kit and if they thought it was worth the money.

I am running the SLP single, high elevation head, pc5, with a modified air intake. I am not really sold on the vf3 over the cfi reeds, since stockers are 8 petal with the same surface area, i think, and maybe a little more durable? I did not have the porting done so I cannot coment on that, but the rest of the toys seem to work very well together. Slp could have sold me a set of low elev. domes for below 6000' but they said stock head would work just fine. It looks like the pc5 map from slp works for stage 1-3 kits, don't know if they still reflash ecu or change map for pc5 for the stage 4 kit. I agree that hp #'s may be misleading, this stuff just works.

aebsledder, you may be closer to 150hp well clutched if you are starting with the poo 2010 update and adding the slp single.
