I have slp package for m7 [ - porting ] came with sled i have never been twin pipe fan on mt sled. so i never ran sled with it on. looking at web site they show impressive numbers . can anybody tell me if they have ran them on their own sled.

I have the slp twins and rkt cut head on my 06 m7 with a boondocker controll box and when they are tuned right they are impressive. My buddys on ski doo 1000 and new xp get pissed when the get beat by a 700. Granted there are the ups and downs, ups being that when tuned right they flat rip you will be impressed they just keep going and going. Down side is they make alot of heat under the hood and everything gets heat soaked causing poor or inconsistant performance. Clutching these can be a little bit of a challenge as well, I ran stock cat weights and a stiff spring and could not get where it needed to be untill I changed to a different profile weight with a real light tip. If it is set up with their clutching specs you should be just fine. Run it, be patient with it and do alot of learning and you will really like it. Cooling and getting the underhood heat out will be the trick to consistant performance.

they run hard when tuned right as Bigjb says (i should know - that was my old sled) but as he noted the heat soaking gets annoying. i highly recommend a mesh hood if going with the twins on any M. makes a big difference and keeps things consistent if you ride in the DEEP. if you are hitting trails a lot then go for it as it will run hard all the time with all the air going through it. :D Doubt that's why you bought an M though. ha ha.

im not a big twin pipe guy either, but like these guys said, underhood heat will hurt you. i know the 1000 has a bad problem with underhood heat as a stock motor. i have talked to guys that say they will be running a stock M1000 in deep pow and they will just bog and shut down after a while. clutches get too hot.

not sure of your setup. but i would start by putting on side panel vents. i bought a set from bdx for 59 bucks. nothing two fancy, but they work good and they didn't break the bank. instead of using a hole saw and just cutting a few holes, i traced out all of the openings and cut the whole thing out. here is a pic. you can see that there are 3 holes and you can see the plastic that was left in between each one. vent.jpg

another thing to try is these vents that go on either side of your gauge. they will let some air out. i have a windshield bag, otherwise i would install those too.

ceramic coating the pipes will help keep more heat inside the pipe and can help reduce underhood temps, maintaining performance. I got my exhaust coated by Jet-Hot. Looks good and helps. my $0.02
