slp intake install?

I just got a few questions. I have my hood off, and was thinking about installing slp intake.
1. Does hood need to be on sled to properly line up intake?
2. Do you put the seal tape on slp intake and drill thru it for rivets?
3. The tube thing dosen't go back on, right?
A wise man once told me, " I'd rather answer your stupid question now, than fix your stupid mistake later". A pic would be great. Tim

Just installed mine tonight. You dont need the hood on. The SLP template is pretty good. Just try to get the intake as close to the bottom of the plenum as possible. I put the sealing tape on the inside of the holes, there was enough room for it. The bellows tube is not re-used.

your saying I need to remove the tube? I will head back out to shop and Re-read the directions maybe i missed something?
you mean the rubber tube not the one in the pic?

I installed mine yesterday too. The installation went well.

Yes, I called Dustin at SLP and he cleared up that indeed only the rubber bellows is removed.

I cut the area out with a linoleum knife and was a bit shocked at how thick the plastic is on the air plenum.

The black rivets that came with the kit are plastic but, all but one of them pulled just fine.

All in all, it looks good and lines up fairly well.

I just yanked mine off a couple days ago. How would that thing NOT suck hot air pulling air right off of the back of it? The majority of the air entering is going to take the path of least resistance which is going to be that window in the back right off of the engine instead of down the long stock tube from the gauge area. Why didn't they make that window in the front pulling fresh, cold air right through the hood vents? Plus, you are still forcing air through the little restricted snout on the top of the stock airbox. I just don't think it's a good design at all! JMO..........
