Hey guys,

was doing some reading on HCS and there was a comment about SLP full pipe kit fitment issues while running the stock air ducting on the hood. Any truth to this?

I have read alot about the SLP setup and have never seen this. I have a new kit sitting at home waiting for install so tips on troubleshouting would be appreciated. Got a new roll of aluminum tape a ready to go too.

There was mention of an RKT hood raise kit or something too... i dunno, just asking. Thanks

I put on a full SLP setup on my 08M1k last season and didn't have any issues with it melting anything. Just make sure to trim the tab on the hood that they mention in the installation instructions. As far as the hood lift goes I don't run one but its not a bad idea, it would be really easy to make your own. If your going to go to the full SLP setup I would recommend removing all of the stock intake and go with an aftermarket or making your own. I ran my stock intake with the SLP setup last season and it ran ok but I am ready to shed some more weight and get a little better performance.

no problems with mine ran on a 07 and 09 m1000, built my own hood lift just because. run a bdx intake, but I also had to tune it right and have egts.

i have the 09m8 and installed the slp setup, it rubbed the air box right above the letter "S" on slp on the pipe itself, just a touch, however after first ride i noticed my new ceramic pipe was scarred for life, where it touched the airbox, it had heat tape and just rubbed it, eventually it would have melted a hole but i did not give it the chance, after first ride i purchased the bdxintake and shed some weight as well, no more melting problems. i think it will rub on all the m8's it is just barely rubbing it. hope this helps.

It does rub a little bit. Make sure you cut the tab off by the screen as instructed. I noticed this summer when i was heat taping my hood that the pipe had been rubbing on the plenum a bit and had worn the heat tape away and melted a little plastic ( didnt hurt anything, but there was a thin dime size film of black melted plastic on the pipe). I took the pipe off and trimmed the rubber bumper under the pipe a bit, and re heat taped the melted spot on the plenum and it is good as new. Also when you get to the y pipe installation do a search and you will find all the information you should need. Good luck! The sled rips with that pipe!
