Slp can melting side pannel

When i bought my slp can new the directions said to remove the heat shield.
Now the side pannel is melting and dash is melting.
I thought the hood was moving back on the skins bumper (only on the right side).
Then I looked a little closser and found the dash and side pannel meting down and in.
I tried heat tape, dosent seem to be working.
Has anybody found a way to keep This from happening
Thanks Rob

mine did the same on a deep powder day when the vents in the hood got covered and didn't let air flow through the hood. About all you can do is heat tape everything under the hood and add more vents. I installed vents where the little storage boxes are and cut a couple holes through the aluminum bracing for airflow, as well as a set of F&I hood vents and some side panel vents.

Open your hood up whenever you stop to let the heat out and try to keep your hood vents cleared off until you install more venting.

Which heat shield did you remove.

You should NOT remove the one mounted to the side panel.. even with venting.

Do you have any other mods or fuel controller on your engine?

Although heat tape can help a bit... it is not really an effective/proper thermal barrier.

The silver film 1503-28 is unique in the industry... nothing I've found compares...MOST Nascar teams and many F1 teams would agree. Not to be confused with the crap mylar films out there that are less pricey...

This stuff is the real deal.

I did not remove the heat shield on the side pannel.
No mods or fuel controler. just v force reeds & slp can.
Slp vents front and rear.
I think it was the 4-5 foot powder in jan-feb at woolf creek colarado.
Thanks Rob

Sounds like an airflow problem..do you have any vents in panel behind a-arm in front of muffler? Then you'll need some behind it like on console or edge of muffler panel to let heat escape.
Ran same can with shield removed, lots of heat tape with no problems..is it otherwise running fine?.....No bent can outlet or loose baffles?

That will do it, need to make sure your vents are open when you are running in that much powder. Open your hood when ever you stop and clean the vents off. Install some more venting if you are running in this kind of snow all the time and install heat tape over everything near the exhaust including over all the wire harnesses.

All the venting and heat shield talk aside.... slp cans are heat monsters. If I run my slp can, my pull start handle gets almost hot enough to burn your hand on lol!:behindsofa:
