32-247 SLP Aluminum Spindles for Ski-Doo Summit XP 330.00

We love the Ski-Doo Summit XP chassis for its lightweight design, but have found it to have and unpredictable nature in a corner, through the bumps or sidehilling. We looked at the cause of this unpredictability and found it to be primarily due to the stock spindle geometry.

We designed this new set of spindles with proper geometry, and what a difference it made. With these spindles installed, the chassis becomes much more predictable in every condition we have tested. Steering control is improved and the improvement in handling is enormous. They make the sled much less fatiguing to ride, and it actually starts to feel as lightweight as it really is. The improvement is so substantial that this becomes one of the first parts we would recommend adding to the Summit XP.

That's the info off SLP's website. Anybody seen or tried these?

Talked to SLP about them the other day when I ordered a set of powder valves and decided on getting a set of spindles. They told me the spindles are on backorder for 4 or 5 weeks. If they are worth $330 or not I don't know but plan to find out.

Anybody try these out yet. When I talked to SLP about some porting work they couldn't stop talking about them.

West Coast Sled makes a set as well at $399

Reports?

I think they moved the spindle bolt up (takes weight off skis and puts on the skid) and to the rear of the a-arms a bit.

Good Luck

im just wondering if anyone actually owns a set of these yet....SLP has has them on back order since september...and keeps pushing the date back further and further everytime I talk to them...I gave up back in december after waiting for four months. Ill let somebody else be the guinea pig before i drop 330 bucks.

if someone actually has them I would love to hear a review!

also, from SLP, the geometry changes were: the overall height of the spindle was shortened, placing more weight on the skid, should make for easier steering and maybe easier carving. ski mounting point was moved 2 inches rearward. and the tie rod mounting point was lengthened out from center axis, (similar to teth-air's spindle spacers) also for easier steering.

I just put a set on my sled lastnight going for a ride tomorrow will let you know how they worked. The spindles are about 1.5 in shorter than the stock one so that it will put more pressure on the front track shock to inmprove the geometry of the sled.

TTT - i want to here how these work. could be a pretty cool mod if they help handling be a little more like 2010s.

Yes, please let us know how they work.... :)

SLP sent me a set of spindles last week and I installed them. The SLP's lowered the front of my 08 XP 154 down about 1 1/4 inches. At first I was not happy with that as I have Evol R shocks on the front and Toms rear suspension. I have spent a year getting the air pressures adjusted to make me happy and now I will have to fine tune it again. But I guessed at it and took it to Cooke on Saturday. The conditions were as follows: snowing, blowing, flat light, 1 to 2+ feet of fresh powder and only fair trail conditions. After a short trail ride and a couple of air pressure adjustments I headed to the Long lake area. These spindles do work!!! I switched sleds with a friend at Mud lake and proceeded to Round lake. Both of us noticed a big difference in responsivness on the rough trail with the fresh snow. In the powder, side hilling they do track and hold a line better than stock. I also noticed better steering control when decending a hill. I was boondocking in places my friend could not follow or could he hold the side hill. I still need to make some additional air adjustments on my shocks but overall am pleased with the new spindles and will be ordering a set for my wife's sled on Monday morning. Also I did weigh the new spindles but did not write down the reading but seem to remember about a pound or so of weight savings, yea I know but just getting old I guess!

it sounds like its worth the money:D, would like to ride one before i buy it;), but i guess i will go by what people say about the spindles here:beer;. keep the commets coming.

Would be curious how the SLP spindles compare to the '10 stock steering....I used a loaner sled this weekend (154") and the steering was much easier than my '09 163"...looking to see if the steering arm can be upgraded to the '10 version...

Any more updates on the spindles, further feedback/reviews?? Compared to the Teth-Air version...?

How much are people paying for these?

SLP has them listed at $330, my dealer quoted me more?

Any more reports?

XP's (I have a 09) have pretty heavy steering in low/spring conditions IMO.
